I hate to keep beating a dead horse .... seriously are we going to continue to let this incompetent Coach continue...inexcusable!!! This team went to foul line one time !!! Throw up 40 3’s, .. I’m just out of words at this point
Whipple had a great shooting game, and that was the main thing that kept us in the game. Kasibabu and Cruz gave us some inside scoring. But when our strategy was to shoot 3's and we hit only 27% not counting Whipple, then we are going to lose.
The big question is...... what has happened to Alvarez. He is not playing an aggressive game, as he did early in the season. 2 of those games in a row.
LOL You're a fellow Fairfield grad, right? So I assume your reading comprehension is better than you demonstrate. I asked a question about non-playing time for two players today so far. And further commented on the season-long inconsistency of player minutes, rotations and personnel groupings.
You chose to use my post to once again defend SJ.
Am I disappointed we were within three at the half against an ACC opponent (even an ACC bottom-feeder like BC) in their gym? Of course not.
I am disappointed that our program has been mostly mired in mediocrity-or less- for most of the last 8 years. I am disappointed that we are 2-8. I am disappointed that the core fan base has eroded to a handful of diehards like those of us on this message board. I am disappointed (again) that although the game is close, we have no coherent offensive strategy other than to mostly shoot 3's, still struggle with defensive rotations in our 11th game, and are again getting beat on the glass, much of it attributable to the way our schemes position our bigs.
Other than that, all is great! Carry on.
Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, the offensive strategy is to recruit lots of 3 point shooters and let them shoot? It might not be what you like, but it is a strategy, and one that many coaches are employing in this day and age.
Yes, our attendance has shrunk. Have you noticed that no one is in the BC stands today too? They are an ACC team, the top conference in the land, and there is hardly anyone there. This is problem with many, many teams, largely because students don't care about basketball anymore, and other fans can more easily stay at home and watch the game in the comfort of their home (like I am doing about 350 miles away from Fairfield, CT).
I am just amazed by how many fans, even during an entertaining game against a major conference foe, can only sit and lament everything. I guess you're entitled to your agony.
Ahhh, the holier than thou fan. And employing the "what about . . ." arguments.
Maybe, just maybe, if an offensive strategy, if that is what it is, fails again and again, a different strategy ought to be utilized . . . did you ever think? You know, those strategic changes that "many coaches are employing in this day and age".
College basketball is entertaining as a whole is entertaining. Fairfield basketball games are sometimes entertaining. Underachieving is not. Poor coaching is not. I only lament that we are 2-9 . . . but the future is bright!
Typical Fairfield game. Tease the fans. Spurts and sputters. Still an L. The lack of being fouled is due to tentative aggressiveness / penetration. Alvarez got yanked for driving recklessly but no one else seemed inclined to penetrate
