With respect to where he is now and how they think he can develop, SJ has compared Felix to Tyler in a few of his podcasts.
I heard that reference in the last podcast- it seemed like quite a stretch.
I will say that the 3 freshman all show signs of being really good. For long periods of the game yesterday we had 3 freshman and 2 sophomores on the court holding their own for the most part against an ACC team. Promising in the long term, potentially (actually) now and short term.
I don't think he was trying to say Felix will be "as good as" Tyler - but to make the comparisons between 2 kids that showed up with some game-ready skills (shooting/basketball smarts) that can help the team... but who you could also see needed some maturing (getting older and stronger) to really unlock their full potential - which is to say he believes there IS a full potential to unlock.
Maybe you could say that about a lot of guys - but I think I see where he is going.
I didn't understand why Popovich was awarded 2 shots on Fairfield's 7th foul in the 2nd half (5:20 remaining). Somewhat impactful as Popovich missed the first shot and made the second.
He was fouled on the floor, instantly, as the pass touched his hands... I don't think he ever even had possession... and certainly wasn't able to get up a shot... ball just kind of dropped on the floor... It looked bad in the arena. It looks even worse on slo-mo replay. Some rule I don't know, or was that just the culmination of a pretty ugly stretch of calls/no-calls that went against the Stags?

That call made no sense. Officials were pretty bad. Jonathan got hammered on a second half put back and Cruz was bumped pretty good on a couple of drives but no whistles.
Something has to be done to our style of play to get us to the foul line. Just a few more made foul shots would have changed the outcome in several past games. Must come up with a remedy
Bingo! Biggest problem for sure. Certainly I agree, style of play means a lot. But the other thing is we don't appear to have enough players good enough to draw fouls consistently. So whether you like it or not, and whether you want to criticize the staff for not bringing in more players who could get the job done in this area, fact is this is what we've got and have to go with. And while the style used with THIS ROSTER probably makes more sense than trying to constantly pound the ball inside, I do think that a little more balance would be appropriate and certainly is something that should be worked on. Think about the last three years where if it were not for Tyler (and Marcus 2015-16) having the ability to get to the line, we would have been in the same boat as this season with not a scent of hope for the winning (albeit slight) records that we were able to put together. In summary though, this is a MAJOR problem.

Someone on this Board correctly stated that Parcells correctly pointed out you are what your record says you are .... but your record does not tell how competitive you have been in your losses ... certainly we have been; we need to get some Mojo and we have to hope the Coach learns how to coach more effectively... it’s that simple cause we got the talent and this Coach is going nowhere but staying at FU... he ain’t going to get fired !!!! So here’s to hope even though many times I get so disgusted and don’t want to watch , but I will , cause we are STAGS ! GO STAGS
