High motor and relentless competitor that plays bigger than he is. Played Mass Rivals AAU same program as UConn point guard Jalen Adams. Is he immediately eligle or does he need to sit 1 year?
Started 11 games for StB as a soph - then completely fell out of the rotation (injury? unhappy transfer?). Had 14/13 vs. Niagara. 6'7" 220lbs with some athleticism and a motor that should certainly play well in the MAAC. I don't see any reason he wouldn't have to sit 1.
* article linked below explains things.

I assume he has to sit a year. Here's a timeline of his high-school recruitment -- mostly A-10 and CAA schools, along with Temple and Monmouth. Stony Brook offered in May 2016, so the kid was on Young's radar.

And in 2017 he had a senior class rating from NERR of #29 out of all the New England players. Why he didn't play more for the Bonnies, who knows? But obviously based on the ratings and the other schools interested at the time, he must have a lot of ability. Hopefully Jay Young enables him to flourish. But given that it does appear as though he will have to sit a year, I imagine Young will also bring in an immediately eligible forward-center type to supplement the current roster which is probably at least one player short in that area. But in the meantime I will say welcome Chef (the nickname he apparently goes by), and I hope you enjoy your experience at Fairfield!
Looks like a very solid commit on paper. Like the strategy of grabbing players from better conferences looking for a change, rebirth, fresh start, playing time, etc. Seems like Ngalakulondi fits the mold Jay Young has had success developing, too.
Name not pronounced "chef" like the cook but pronounced " Cheff" like Jeff with a "Cha" instead of the J in front(Saw an interview he did at St. Bonaventure)
Very impressive that Jay Young brings in a player that is a higher level than the MAAC. And he comes in at position of need. We need Quality players, not necessarily Quantity.
A good get by “NCAA JAY”. Nice size and solid weight. He will not be pushed around underneath. Very athletic and appears to be able to put the ball on the floor and get to the hoop. Keep it up Mr. Young.
