The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team just completed a successful regular season that saw them win 10 matches and earn the second seed in the upcoming 2019 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship. For that success, the Stags were rewarded with eight student-athletes being named to All-Conference teams and a duo earned yearly accolades. Freshman defender Josie Horosky was named the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year and Head Coach David Barrett was voted the BSN MAAC Coach of the Year by the other MAAC Coaches. Among the eight student athletes: junior captain Gabby Diodati and sophomore forward Stephanie Tsangaris were named to the All-MAAC First Team. Liz Dumas, Kelsey Gilbert, Brooke Hernon, and Nicole Stryjek were all named to the All-MAAC Second Team and Horosky was joined by Olivia Homan for the conference's All-Rookie Team. The eight all league selections are the most for the Stags since they earned 11 in 2008. "I am thrilled for our team as a whole that our accomplishments as a group have afforded these individuals an opportunity for well-deserved distinction from the coaches in the MAAC," Coach Barrett said. "Each of these athletes have worked hard at their craft and all have seen marked growth in their games over the past 12 months. I'm excited to see what comes next for them."With their success, the Stags have earned the second seed in the upcoming MAAC Championships and will host fifth-seeded Quinnipiac in the MAAC Semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7:00 pm. maacsports.com/news/2019/11/4/2019-maac-womens-soccer-major-awards-and-all-maac-teams-announced.aspx
