2020 - (8) Fairfield
2019 - (10) Fairfield

2017 - (5) Fairfield
2016 - (5) Fairfield
2015 - (10) Fairfield
2014 - (10) Fairfield
Despite finishing tied for last multiple times over the years the Stags managed to avoid the 11th seed by securing tiebreaker advantages.
DIEHARD SAYS
"We have reasons to be optimistic going into the MAAC tournament. Fairfield is scheduled to face Manhattan who they have beaten twice, and if they continue to win they will likely face three teams that they have played very closely in at least one game during the season. So the Stags have reason to think they can play with whoever they face.
MAAC TOURNAMENT - REASONS FAIRFIELD CAN WIN
Stags have some experienced players.
Taj Benning has become a very stable and competent contributor, increasing his scoring and limiting turnovers.
Landon Taliaferro is capable of getting hot from deep and putting up points in a hurry.
Jesus Cruz when on his game is capable of scoring in bunches and hitting a high percentage of shots.
Rose and Maidoh have gained valuable experience as the season has progressed
Methnani, Kaviuliaskis, Whipple and Eze have all had games where they made a significant impact. Any one of them is capable of having a good tournament.
MAAC TOURNAMENT - HOW FAIRFIELD CAN LOSE
If Fairfield falls into one of their patented scoring droughts, it will be tough to win.
It has been said that "defense wins championships," and if the Stags don’t defend, they won’t win.
The Stags will need to limit turnovers to put themselves in a position to win.
TRIVIA QUESTION
Who is the only Fairfield Coach to have a winning record in their MAAC Tournament appearances?
Answer to follow.
MAAC TOURNAMENTS TO REMEMBER
2018
Fairfield made an amazing run in the 2018 MAAC tournament, winning 3 straight games as the 6th seed before falling to Iona in the championship game. The Stags run was lead by senior Tyler Nelson. Nelson scored 99 points, second most in tournament history, trailing only Dwayne Archbold's 111 points in the 2002 MAAC tourney. Nelson secured 22 rebounds, 16 assists, 6 steals, 17 3-point baskets, 30 field goals, and 22 free throws on 22-24 shooting (91.6%). Many of these numbers are Fairfield records and/or rank among the top numbers put up by any player in the MAAC tournament history.
2012
Fairfield reached the MAAC tournament finals as the 4 Seed defeating Rider(5) and Iona(1) before falling to Loyola(2) in the finals in Springfield. Rakim Sanders lead the way for Fairfield with 27 rebounds and 53 points.
2010
Fairfield(2) defeated Canisius(7) in the quarterfinal round by a score of 67-57, before besting Niagara(6) 69-63 in the semi finals. Fairfield had a chance to win the Championship game but a shot in the final seconds of regulation rimmed out sending the game into overtime where the Stags fell to Siena(1) 72-65.
2003
Tim O’Toole’s Fairfield Stags(2) defeated Saint Peter’s(8) 68-60 and Siena(3) 67-63 before falling to Manhattan 69-54 in the Championship game. Manhattan’s Luis Flores was named MVP of the tournament.
1997 – MAAC Tournament Champions
The Fairfield Stags entered the MAAC tournament with an 8-18 overall record and 2-12 conference record good enough for last place. The Stag(8) shocked first seeded Iona(1) by a score of 80-71. Fairfield then bested St Peters(4) by a score of 73-61 before downing Canisius(2) in the Championship game 78-72. Fairfield became the first #8 seed to win the MAAC tournament.
1987 - MAAC Tournament Champions
The Stags entered the 1987 MAAC tournament as the 7th seed (11-15) facing heavily favored LaSalle(2). Fairfield easily handled the explorers 75-62 with AJ Wynder and Jeff Gromos each contributing 27 points and Eddie Golden dishing off 10 assists for the first time in his career. Fairfield then rallied from 7 down in the final three minutes to beat Army 65-60 in the MAAC semi-finals. Troy Bradford had 19 points. In the Championship Game Fairfield found themselves training Iona 53-35 in the second half with under 15 minutes to play. In one of the greatest comebacks in MAAC tournament history, Fairfield stormed back to tie the game at the buzzer. Tim O'Toole's 2 steals, 2 drawn charges and 6 points played a key role in the comeback while Troy Bradford hit critical shots including a 3 point basket in the final minutes to give Fairfield its first tie. After yielding a bucket to Iona, AJ Wynder dribbled up the court hitting a pulling up jumper as time expired sending the game into overtime. Jeff Gromos hit two key buckets as the Stags again rallied from behind in overtime to win the 1987 MAAC Tournament.
1986 - MAAC Tournament Champions
The number 1 seeded Stags won their first ever MAAC Tournament championship with wins over Manhattan 80-56, St. Peter's and Holy Cross 67-64.

Summary: With its enchanting story, iconic animation, unforgettable characters Cinderella's adventure proves dreams really do come true!
I thought this was going to be about MAAC basketball team that made a run and advanced in the NCAA tournament. Turned out Cinderella didn’t play basketball, she actually ran away from the ball. And her coach was a pumpkin! This flick was really dumb you would have thought it was a kid’s movie or something.

IMPROVED REPLAY RULES FOR MAAC TOURNAMENT
The MAAC has announced that officials will conduct a video review of every play in this years MAAC tournament. The new rule which will begin being used this year will allow fans to spend more time at the MAAC tournament and to "get more for their money" as the additional video replay reviews are expected to more than double the length of each MAAC tournment game. League Commissioner Dick Ensor feels the rule is needed to keep fans from losing all of their money in the casinos. In order to stave off complaints from Siena coach Carmen Marciello, game officials will watch all camera angles of the prior play in slow motion. The new policy is designed to ensure that all fouls are called, and the ball is awarded to the right team when it goes out of bounds. The officials will also be reviewing how they look on TV and they will work with cameramen to make sure the camera's are positioned to "show their best side."
While virtually every play will be called correctly moving forward, MAAC officials were non-committal on whether the new policy would be used to resolve debates over what constitutes traveling. "Lets admit it," said one official, "even with these reviews it will be impossible for officials to consistently enforce traveling violations."
In response to questions over the possibility of longer games, Ensor replied "The most important thing is getting the call right. Why are we officiating basketball in real-time, when we can get the call right by utilizing replay review on every single play?" Games are now expected to last over 24 hours and under the new MAAC tournament format the tournament will last for the entire month of March.
STAGS HEAD TO THE TOURNEY
The Stags head to Atlantic City for the MAAC tournament looking to win the tournament for the 4th time in 39 tries. Jay Young is the only Coach since 1980 to have never lost a MAAC tournament game. Lets hope that record stays intact during this years tournament.

STAGS IMPROVE THEIR POSITION
The Stags have been seeded 10th three times in the last 7 years, so in some respects, an 8th place seeding is a step in the right direction
2020 - (8) Fairfield
2019 - (10) Fairfield
2018 - (6) Fairfield

Cinderella
★
Summary: With its enchanting story, iconic animation, unforgettable characters Cinderella's adventure proves dreams really do come true!
I thought this was going to be about MAAC basketball team that made a run and advanced in the NCAA tournament. Turned out Cinderella didn’t play basketball, she actually ran away from the ball. And her coach was a pumpkin! This flick was really dumb you would have thought it was a kid’s movie or something.
HEARD BUT PROBABLY NOT TRUE
