absolutely not! would be a massive step backwards for the program playing against the existing maac lax programs instead of perennial national powers denver and loyola, even in loyola is leaving soon...there is a better chance of the ecac expanding and picking up schools such as umass and penn state from the caa than the maac programs stepping up to anywhere near the level of fairfield's

#20 QU is going to make the MAAC Lacrosse League more competitive next year. It could be the start of a good local rivalry.

so pick up QU only...QU and Marist have received votes in this year's polls, that's it...there is no real "program" among the current MAAC schools so it would be a massive step down just to pick up local rivalries...Fairfield lacrosse has moved beyond the need for local competition in finding a league, now its about playing the best competition possible

Neither...Patriot League! MAAC is a huge step down and ignores all the progress the program has made. The ECAC will implode in the near future once the Big Ten sponsors lacrosse.

All the more reason why we need to find a new conference home for our other sports as well.
With Loyola leaving the ECAC next year and the BIG10 likely to start their own conference since Maryland and Rutgers decided to join the league. Ohio St and Michigan will also leave the ECAC.
Fairfield will be looking to find a new home soon I imagine and it better not be the MAAC.

Big 10 D1 Lax - Maryland - ACC Rutgers - Big East Penn State - Colonial Michigan - ECAC Ohio State - ECAC
I don't know if a 5 team league gets a bid. With Loyola leaving, adding "free-agents" Maryland and Rutgers would be great.

With millions of dollars ear marked for a renovated Alumni Stadium, there is no way Fairfield University is going backwards into the MAAC for lax no matter how much one Quinnipiac fan thinks that is a great idea.

B1G lax will happen in two years with Denver being the most likely sixth affiliate member. If we don't get an CAA invitation, I think our lax destination will be the Big East as they will be looking to replace Syracuse, Notre Dame and Rutgers. I like the idea of reuniting with Georgetown and Villanova, but, not so excited about the rest of the lax members. I still wish we pursued the Patriot League, but, that is obviously undesirable basketball wise and the lax league will be up to eight members making an NCAA bid even more difficult. That said, the Big East would be the perfect balance of competitiveness and the opportunity of actually getting an NCAA bid. Plus it puts us in the company of peer schools that we want to be associated with which could help raise the profile and awareness of Fairfield.

The rumor of the day is Denver to Big East Lacrosse....UGH!!! It just sucks being a small school with a small fan base and limited media coverage. Why do you think we got the NCAA Tournament snub last year despite making the ECAC Final and beating Denver during the regular season? Denver has a large fan base, magnificent lacrosse only stadium and is a lacrosse media darling. Speaking of lacrosse only stadium, the school should have rebuilt Alumni Stadium over a decade ago after the 2003 and 2005 NCAA tournaments. The program had all the momentum. Instead we continued to play in one of the worst D1 lacrosse venues. Another blown opportunity especially if we end up back in the MAAC. All the more reason to start thinking about making the move to the CAA for all sports.
