Wow, I can't believe our fan support was so low this year?!?! No wonder the Big East passed us over. Play on the field has been very competitive, but, if you can't generate any meaningful fan and media interest no other conference is going to come knocking. This really is sad.

Think those attendance #s are skewed downward. Many people stand around the track (outside the fence) at FU Lax games.
Denver is a big lose, but our focus now should be building the stadium and taking advantage of this opportunity. Maybe it allows Fairfield to get to the NCAAs a few years in a row now!

Has construction on the stadium started at all?
I have not seen anything in the mail from the university asking for contributions to the construciton of the stadium. I thought there was supposed to be a capital raising campaign?

No, I believe they are still in the capital raising mode. One very generous alum donated $3 million towards the overall $8 million projected cost of the renovation. Brian Hull '80 hosted an event in NYC recently to solicit donors from amongst the lax alum. I don't know how successful they were or whether or not we are even close to beginning the construction.

IMO, The best way to raise the funds for Alumni Stadium, Alumni Hall and Alumni Diamond is to have a real Capital Campaign for Stag Athletic Facilities rather than this limited to lax alumni/parents now and the behind the scenes stuff. I suspect that Development does not want this restrictive type of effort that might effect and impact their overall donations to the Annual Fund. Meanwhile it takes forever and there are very pretty architect renderings to look at but no construction is being started. I hope not but this almost reminds me of the never implemented plan to renovate AH back in the late 1990s as it looked great on paper but nothing ever got done even after the campaign goal was met and raised and then exceeded again.
The University just needs to ask Dr. Lahey, President of Quinnipiac how to do it as he gets things done and gets results.

I just read on Laxpower that according to a Denver insider their move to the Big East was predicated on B1G lacrosse starting in 2015 and Denver not being in the discussion as an Associate Member. It's looking more and more like back to the MAAC for the Stags. I bet you Ensor is wishing the Presidents had accepted Hofstra in the past. MAAC Lacrosse would have been a much better league and we most likely have returned then.

And for those hoping for a B1G invite for Stags lacrosse, Johns Hopkins is most likely their primary target...

Come on in boys. Come join the MAAC for lacrosse. You could be reunited with Great Western Lacrosse League Alum and fellow ECAC Lacrosse League alum Quinnipiac. Who knows, you might even enjoy playing in the MAAC. At the very least, you would have a good chance of getting the auto-bid to he NCAA tourney each year.
Also, although Quinnipiac already plays on a nice turf lacrosse field they are going to be renovating/improving their lacrosse complex soon. However, I do not think it will be as impressive as Fairfield's future lacrosse stadium.

Interesting view of MAAC Lacrosse from the College Crosse blog...
MAAC Seems to me the MAAC can benefit from this, and come up with a nice tidy geographical conference with some good rivalries.
It would appear to me that the ECAC is soon to be history with the departure of Denver, and soon to be departure of the B1G schools.
So, the MAAC should scoop up both Fairfield and Hobart.
With Loyola moving to the Patriot, and VMI and Jacksonville off to the Atlantic Sun, the league would consist of all NY, NJ, and CT schools (with the excpetion of Detroit, what do you do with the Titans?)
Marist, Siena, Canisius, and Hobart – would stretch nicely across upstate NY with natural rivalries developing.
Fairfield and Quinnipiac are neighbors and would start a great rivalry.
And, then you have Monmouth and Manhattan. I’m not sure how long it will take Manhattan to get decent, but I’m convinced Monmouth will contend in this league almost immediately. Head coach Brian Fisher (former Notre Dame assistant) is doing an amazing job recruiting. The school is also in a perfect geographical location, in the middle of ALL the lacrosse hotbeds, not to mention a mile from the beach.
Anyway, a MAAC with Canisius, Marist, Siena, Hobart, Quinnipiac, Fairfield, Manhattan, and Monmouth – looks very viable on paper to me as a “mid major†conference that could be solid for a long time.

Run away from the MAAC at every level. Its a lazy, mismanaged, underachieving conference that has been headed in the wrong direction for a very long time.

A conference that moved their Basketball Tournament 120 miles away from the media capital of the world and drew 20 % of the fans that they usually draw AND put almost their ENTIRE Tournament on ESPN3, where NO ONE COULD SEE IT! The MAAC office couldn't run a whore house that accepted EZ PASS!

Fairfield to the MAAC in lacrosse? Why would we do that? We are now in a position to be even more successful in a more competitive league.
We have been one of the top 4 teams in one of the most competitive lacrosse leagues in the country. Now, the league loses 2 solid programs, but Fairfield can take advantage of this in the short term and maybe grab the automati to the NCAAs.
In the next 2 or 3 years, we have better shots at wining the league bid. Tournament appearances would be huge for program exposure and would give the program even greater leverage in the future.
