Three Fairfield University men's basketball seniors were named to the 2020 MAAC All-Championship Team, an honor announced today by the conference office.
Aidas Kavaliauskas, Vincent Eze, and Landon Taliaferro garnered the accolades, three of 32 members of the All-Championship team as the conference honored all seniors who played in the MAAC Basketball Championship. The trio contributed to the Stags' cause throughout the season through their leadership and example both on and off the court.
Kavaliauskas developed into one of the team'stop play makers during his three seasons in uniform, dishing off 225 assists in 75 games (3.0 assists per game). In his first season with the program, this guard has recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 14 points and 10 assists at Marist and 14 points and 11 assists against Niagara. He became the first Stag to have back double-doubles with assists since 1978. He earned 25 starts during his career and averaged more than 22 minutes per appearance.
Eze joined the Stags basketball program for the 2019-20 campaign as a graduate student. He made an immediate impact on the team, as his play inside added another dimension to the Stags offense. He used his skills around the basket to be among the team leaders in field goal percentage. He averaged 5.8 rebounds per game which placed him among the conference leaders. He posted two double-doubles and secured 10 or more rebounds three times in 2019-20. He garnered a personal-best 13 rebounds against Texas A&M while scoring his Fairfield high of 16 points against Wagner and Niagara in back-to-back games.
Taliaferro served the men's basketball program as one of the most prolific three-point shooters in school history. He placed among the top ten in Fairfield annals with 153 three pointers in 61 games for an average of 2.5 made per game. He set a school record with 10 three-point field goals in front of a national television audience against Texas A&M, finishing with 34 points in the victory. Last season, he ranked 22nd in the nation for three-point field goal percentage with a .423 mark ranked among the top 50 in the country with his 3.0 three-point field goals per game. The guard became the third Stag to record 90 three pointers in a season following the 2018-19 campaign. In just two seasons with the Stags, he has collected 742 points for a 12.2 scoring average in 61 career appearances.
