I listened to the red sea podcast with Crisler yesterday and he was talking about how most of the players would be at Alumni Hall non-stop day and night working on things. This is going to be a challenge once construction starts, I assume they will be using the recplex but i wonder what the plan is to have convenient 24x7 practice space like they do now.
That wouldn't make sense, would it? He had to have meant to say the Walsh Center, right? Anyway the best news of this report is that the Stags will be together a lot during the off-season working out together (no matter where). So that's a great thing!
I sent an e-mail to Nick Wormley the advancement guy in the athletic dept. asking if a webcam is possible. Others should do the same , his email is listed in the staff section of Fairfieldstags.com. Let’s see what his response will be. My guess the response will be a “ No” because the school will handle construction progress via regular photos or video link. If I remember correctly they posted progress photos/videos during the construction of Rafferty stadium when it was being built several years ago,
Nick responded, “ Tony,
We have a meeting tomorrow to discuss all of that. I'll pass on your thoughts.” So let’s see what comes out of meeting!

They did a great video of the groundbreaking ceremony for Rafferty Stadium. I would hope they do the same here. I like the idea of the webcam too. Anything to draw attention to and hype the coming new arena!
When was the last time anyone heard from Development about the ARENA 100 program or the Convocation Center?
Fairfield students, alumni, parents, and friends are invited to Be The Next to join the ARENA 100 team ‑ a growing community that backs the vision of the Arena and Convocation Center to help increase school spirit and alumni pride, strengthen student and athletic recruitment, enhance programming for alumni audiences, attract academic forums and debates, and more. ARENA 100 members will lead the way in making the planned Arena a reality. Stags family, friends, and fans can Be The Next to support the vision of the Convocation Center by joining the ARENA 100 community and making a gift of $5,000 per year for the next five years.

Is Walsh limited in space? Also in summer and when not in use there is the prep practice gym.
It appears Jay's summer basketball camps will be in the recplex as well.

From the Spring 2021 issue of Fairfield magazine in the Letter from the President:
"Owing to the pandemic, our plans to build a new Convocation Center were delayed but by no means deterred. This month, we will begin work on the arena, projected now to open in the fall of 2022. Home for our basketball programs and other sports, this versatile space will allow us to host events on a scale appropriate for a University of our stature".....
Below is an item from University Announcements that appeared in my faculty email today. It looks like the project is underway!
Convocation Center Project Parking/Traffic Pattern - Beginning Monday

The Convocation project has begun. The fencing of the project perimeter will commence on Monday, March 29 impacting traffic patterns. Please be aware of the changes and follow the signage. I received this information last week regarding the progress of the new Arena.
Construction on the new Arena & Convocation Center continues to move forward and, as of this moment, demolition of Alumni Hall is scheduled take place on Monday morning, April 26. Because of Covid restrictions on campus and construction safety precautions, we’re unfortunately unable to allow visitors on campus at this time. As you all know, facility construction can be a fluid process and the timeline may shift; more news will be coming from the University soon. We’re looking forward to the next steps in this exciting venture and the day when we can celebrate the new arena together. Go Stags!

How much money do I need to donate to get on these exclusive email lists? 😂 Again, this should have been blasted out to all season ticket holders at a minimum.
When they say demolition of Alumni Hall is scheduled take place on Monday morning at 9:30. It makes it sound like they’re talking about dynamite demolition, like the old Metrodome! (That can’t be the case, right?!)
