I dont know how many have met Dou, but when you do you realize pretty quickly that he has those intangibles that very few players have. Needham had them, Dou learned from the best.
“He is an extremely tough and a competitive player on the court,” Johnson said. “He is always working to become a better player. After inserting Amadou in the starting line-up in our fifth game of the season, he went on to lead our team in rebounding.”
Sidibe also excelled in the classroom this year, earning a spot on the University’s honor roll in the fall and is on course to receive the same recognition in the spring.
“With all of Amadou’s promise and accomplishments, he remains a humble young man and is well respected by his fellow teammates and coaching staff,” Johnson said. “Amadou has a bright future ahead of him at Fairfield University and I am pleased that he will represent our team as a captain.”
Excellent choice. You can really see how appreciative he is of the fans support, and how he smiles whenever he hears the Douououououou chant. He is also a hard worker, and I was amazed in drills before the Red White scrimmage how Amadou was first in all the running drills. Difficult to do when he is a Big Man.
With all the youth on this team, working hard in practice will be paramount for this team. Sidibe can set that example.
interesting, MO barrow the only senior on the time next year(i believe) was not named co- captain. I guess sid is finalizing his separation from cooleys gang.
I imagine Barrow will again fill the role of scoring forward off the bench. He should have plenty of chances to make big shots and lead by example with clutch play.

Great honor for Amadou and a great choice! However I have to admit that I am a bit surprised that Mo was not at least named a Co-Captain. But with Dou in his leadership position the team will certainly be in good hands for the next three years.
I just read the article on Sidibe in the spring 2014 edition of Fairfield University magazine. Amadou is pictured on the cover. The title of the article on page 13 is: Born to Lead Amadou Sidibe '16 named co-captain of the Stags while only a sophomore. In the second paragraph of his article, John Torsiello mentions that Maurice Barrow was the other co-captain for the '13-'14 season.
I've read this board virtually every day this past year. Am I the only one who didn't know that Amadou and Barrow were named co-captains of our team this past season?
Maynardsreef -- my mistake, I should have realized when I saw Barrow's name in the same sentence as co-captain Amadou Sidibe that obviously meant Barrow was the other co-captain. I mistakenly thought the author's point was both Barrow and Sidibe are from New York City.
