The HARTFORD COURANT's story on the CT6 Classic in their backyard next Saturday:
HARTFORD — — If the specific work hasn't already begun during preseason practices, it soon will. Coaches of the teams in the Connecticut 6 Classic basketball tripleheader will spend much of the next week working on plans for how to defeat their opponents in the season-opening event Nov. 10 at the University of Hartford.
On Thursday, those coaches got together at the Hartford Marriott Downtown to praise one another and trumpet the Classic, in its fourth year.....
This is an event that we really are proud to be a part of," said Quinnipiac's Tom Moore, the first coach to speak at the annual breakfast. "From the time the idea was originally brought up, it was something we were really excited about and wanted to put our support behind. Anytime our programs can get a spotlight put on us early in the season by the statewide media and regional media, I think it's a great opportunity. We have great stories at our schools."
After one year at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport and two more at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Classic will be held on a campus for the first time, at the University of Hartford.
"I think this shines an incredible light on all of us," Fairfield coach Sydney Johnson said.
Athletic directors and organizers will gauge the success of this year's event before deciding on a venue for 2013. Bridgeport and Quinnipiac are possibilities....[/b]
