Class of 2024. 6'10" out of Dover, NH. Getting looks from some majors.
Phenom: Fairfield is the latest offer. Thoughts on that program and offer? What kind of relationship have you built with them so far?
Middleton: They have been talking a lot about the uprise of the program and I’m excited to see how it shapes out. I have built a good relationship with the staff.

With the addition of this kid to the list, that currently brings the total number of offers in the class of 2024 (according to VC) to 34, certainly something that has the potential to pay off down the road. They are shooting high according to some talk heard at the fundraiser the other night, and that's great to see. However it is interesting that at least at this moment there are only 4 guys listed from the 2023 class other than Matty Curtis who should sign next month. I take that to mean they are pretty sure of the strength of the roster at the present time as it should appear next season, although you never know how things will look a year from now based on possible transfers. It will be interesting to observe the 23 list from time to time in the next few months to see if more guys are added based on how they are seeing their future based on how things are going this season. As Ed Cooley once said to some of our group many years ago, "recruiting never stops" (paraphrasing from memory here), and it appears as though Jay Young and staff have the same philosophy in place, and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

No idea how talented this player is, but we do seem to be upping the talent level on the roster each season under Jay —- so I have to assume we wouldn’t be recruiting him hard if we didn’t think he’d make a significant impact for us. Do I have this correct — he’s from New Hampshire but his prep school is in Ohio?

Some quick research indicates that is indeed true as his listed school of Western Reserve is a prep institution located in the Cleveland area. However he has performed well in the off-season for the BABC AAU program, a well-known entity based out of the Boston area. As far as talent, well it appears as though both Depaul and Iowa may have already offered, and other big conference schools are interested. And besides that, Siena offered over a year ago. But that said, I have to believe that especially for big men, going to a Power 5 program as a freshman more often than not means at least a year or two of not getting much playing time based on the usual allotment of other bigs on a given team. Therefore the thought of immediate action as well as his expression that he's excited for the uprise of the Stag program could be important and certainly a selling point emphasized by our coaches.
^ So, if we beat Rutgers in the exhibition game and beat Wake Forest in the opener —- do you think that will impress Caleb?
Totally unrelated, does anyone know of an antidote to Stag Euphoria?
Antidote historically has been lack of offense, turnovers, injuries and ultimately landing in the PIG. Antidote tends to wear off in late August when Stag Euphoria flares up again.

A reminder that even with the regular season starting today, recruiting keeps going on. Apparently we offered this ‘23 guard Saturday on his unofficial visit, the day before the team flew down to North Carolina to face Wake Forest tonight.
I hesitantly post this considering the chaos that is Twitter these days.
He plays for West Essex High School in New Jersey. If true, at 6’4” he’s taller than our other guard walk-ons. Hopefully, someone on the board knows of either this player or his school and can provide some information.
I’ve never really understood what benefit a preferred walk-on has to an ordinary walk-on. Can someone explain it?

The only difference might be, and I am only guessing, but basically it probably means that a PWO is kind of guaranteed a spot on the team as opposed to the others who have to make the squad via tryouts. Other than that guess I really don't know, to be honest.

PWO generally means "preferred walk on." A preferred walk-on offer means the coach would like you on the team but cannot (or won't) offer any financial assistance at least for the first year. Preferred walk-ons can earn a scholarship going into their second season, but nothing is guaranteed.
