Dr. Brett Burchette has been named Director of Athletic Development/Senior Associate Director of Athletics at Fairfield University, as announced on Wednesday by Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann. Burchette brings more than two decades of experience in development and marketing to Fairfield.

"His growth mindset, relentless work ethic and ability to develop staff will serve him well in this critical role. Brett shares an overriding commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience, and I look forward to working with him and our Athletics Advancement team at this exciting inflection point in our history."
Most recently, Burchette served as the Assistant Vice President of Development/Major Gifts at Drexel University. As the Chief Advancement Officer for four of the University's major programs – business, entrepreneurship, professional studies and education. Burchette and his team secured more than $20 million in new gifts and commitments in the most recent fiscal year as a key contributor to the University's current campaign. Burchette also served as Executive Director of Development as well as an Assistant Professor of Sport Management.
Prior to Drexel, Burchette was an athletics administrator in development and external affairs at Bradley, Indiana State, Northeastern and Temple. He also worked for Nelligan Sports Marketing as an Account Executive at Temple and General Manager of Georgetown Sports Marketing.

A 1997 graduate of Indiana University, Burchette earned a Master's of Education with a concentration in Sport and Recreation Administration from Temple University in 2000. He completed his Doctorate in Education from Drexel University in 2013, focusing on Educational Leadership and Management.
