On December 15 at 6 p.m., more than 10,000 high school students logged into their Fairfield University application portal hoping to discover they had secured their spot in Stag Country as a member of the Class of 2027.
Of the record-breaking 10,153 early applicants, Fairfield offered admission to just over 46 percent, marking the lowest acceptance rate in the history of the University’s Early Action program, as well as its largest-ever early applicant pool.
A nonbinding option, Early Action allows students to apply and potentially gain admission to their top college choices much earlier than regular applicants. Early action programs, like Fairfield's, normally send out decisions in December and give admitted students until May 1, the national response date, to formally reply to their offers.
The number of Fairfield Early Action applications increased more than 21 percent from the previous year, with applicants representing 1,756 high schools around the world. Among the students admitted, 410 currently attend a Jesuit or Cristo Rey High School, while the admitted pool as a whole represents more than 13 international countries and 36 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
The academic strength and diversity of the University’s Early Action applicants also continued to grow this year. In addition to being Fairfield’s most diverse Early Action admitted pool, the average weighted GPA of the Class of 2027’s Early Action applicants was an impressive 3.89 with an average SAT score of 1329 among those who submitted.
Imagine if we had a D1 basketball program of national prominence?

Imagine if we had a D1 basketball program of national prominence? Seems Fairfield has done a good job adjusting the academics to the (somewhat stupid) parameters of college ranking publications. Feel like I may have asked something similar years ago- but wasn't 1300 a great SAT score? Now that's the AVERAGE of students applying to Fairfield? Good for the Stags From the net : 1300 SAT Score Standings - Here's how you compare to other students and how many colleges you are competitive for: Percentile: 87th Out of the 2.13 million test-takers, 274664 scored the same or higher than you. Competitive For: 1346 Schools You can apply to 1346 colleges and have a good shot at getting admitted. Missing Out On: 152 SchoolsAlso from a quick search --- The national average is a 1050. I am not sure what to take away from this if anything. Guess we are just getting better applicants, but hard to believe (in my opinion) that out of 10,000 applicants the average is 1329. For clarity , I am in the camp that one test should not be the main factor in judging your high school career. (Either negatively or positively.) Also, I seem to be arguing with myself. Goodnight!

Yes, this is an excellent statistical indicator of the academic quality of the admitted students.
A 1300 SAT score puts you at the 87th percentile, meaning you scored higher than 87% of all other testers.
Love or hate the US News Rankings this will certainly boost our 2023 National Ranking. Many of the schools just ahead of Fairfield do not have average SAT scores above 1300.

Just nitpicking. (Slow Sunday and the MAAC Games don't start till 2 PM 😂) Looking at the list of fees in the above link, what could possibly be the rationale to not round this off? We're not talking about a loaf of bread.

Gonzaga Hallwww.fairfield.edu/undergraduate/student-life-and-services/student-services/residence-life/index.htmlFairfield Names New Residential Hall After a Female Religious Leader in Historic MoveOn Friday, Feb. 17, the Office of Residence Life released the “Housing Lottery Resource Guide” for the 2023-2024 academic year. Within the section entitled “Class of 2026 Sophomores Give Back Six-Person Suites in Bowman Hall,” the Office revealed an exciting announcement: “New to Fall 2023: Fairfield University is excited to open Sister Thea Bowman Hall.” The announcement marks a historic moment for Fairfield University. Bowman Hall, formerly referred to as Regis West, will be the first Residence Hall named after a Black female religious leader. Bowman Hall is being erected behind Regis Hall, joining a collection of dormitories in an area known as “the Quad”. Meredith Smith, the Assistant Vice President and Director of Residential Life, noted the inspiration and congruence between the buildings’ names...... In addition to the unveiling of Bowman Hall, Regis and Faber Hall will be updated for August 2023. fairfieldmirror.com/news/fairfield-names-new-residential-hall-after-a-female-religious-leader-in-historic-move/

Here is a photo showing the new front entrance to Gonzaga. I like what the architect did. The lounges in the center of each floor and across the right side of the first floor look great. Notice the new sign on the right at the entrance to the Quad. Question: Does anyone know the correct pronunciation of the new Regis - Bowman Hall? Is it "Bough-man" like a tree branch or the front of a boat or "Bo-man" like tie a bow on it?
