This is a tremendous and significant development! I can't wait to see the impact on our U.S. News ranking. Fairfield rising! Fairfield Receives Unprecedented Number of Applications, Sets Record-Low Acceptance Ratewww.fairfield.edu/news/archive/2023/march/record-low-acceptance-rate.htmlDrawing from a collective of 15,455 applicants, the University hit a 44.9 percent acceptance rate this year, the lowest in Fairfield history, according to Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Corry Unis. Dropping 14 percent from the previous year, the University’s acceptance rate has been reduced by more than 25 percent over the last five years. During that same time, undergraduate applications have grown by more than 35 percent, continuing a trend of Fairfield’s momentum growing so strong that each year’s enrollment goals exceed the last.

Incredible news! Just read this in an e-mail blast from the university. Also, to highlight:
In addition to representing the largest pool of applicants in University history, Fairfield’s Class of 2027 is also anticipated to be the most diverse. Admitted students represent 1,455 high schools across the United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, as well as 39 countries around the world. Of the 6,940 students admitted, 557 are currently enrolled in a Jesuit or Cristo Rey high school.
In terms of academic strength, admitted students averaged a weighted GPA of 3.85 with an average SAT score of 1344 among those who submitted.
Whatever the university is doing admissions wise, keep it up! Now imagine if we had a basketball program that made the tourney? It would really put us on the map!

We are far and away the best in the MAAC. Link below has 2022 numbers. It will be interesting to see how other MAAC schools fare in 2023 and improve over ten points as we did to 44.9% www.collegeevaluator.com/ncaa-conferences/metro-atlantic-athletic-conference/

What happened to Loyola? Is the inner city turmoil of Baltimore souring prospective students? Loyola had a lot of momentum a few years ago.

Patriot League is where basketball programs go to die...
As for Loyola, really surprised about their acceptance rate. Times definitely change but Baltimore was never a great destination so are other factors at play? Also, a little amazed that Holy Cross is as high as 43%. I always thought Fairfield was sitting on a gold mine and I am glad we are finally realizing some of our true potential. Great campus, location and facilities that we should not take for granted.

“Patriot League is where basketball programs go to die...” Really, I don’t think so. Patriot league is where schools go to compete equitably with other schools of a similar academic profile. It is a prestigious league with the likes of the military academies, and very good schools like Lehigh, Layfayette , Bucknell , Colgate and Holy Cross. Give me that association any day rather then St Pete’s, Rider, Niagara , Iona etc.
