Tough to reconcile this when the tier 1 sport finishes 7/11 and projects to be 10 or 11/11 next year.

Personally, I'll celebrate the award and not use this positive moment as a platform for criticism.

Folks celebrating and accepting this crap is why we have a bottom of the league basketball team. We are always our harshest critic. I'm not accepting mediocrity. Just graciously accept the recognition from outside the program and use it as a spring board to improve, not bash. We are living in a world of grievance. When something positive happens, just enjoy it and use it to continuously improve. If General Motors reacted this way in the 60's, the only autos available would be Toyotas and Nissans. They realized they were not competing, recognized it and made it better.

I think this award allows the admin and trustees to continue to be complacent. Success in athletics can be measured in many ways - the primary way is wins and losses in the tier 1 program - we don’t measure up.

These responses are really a slap in the face of athletes who don't play men's basketball, and to administrators who work on many other programs (many of which are successful) other than men's basketball.
You just seem to be saying "I don't care what you guys do. The only sports that matter are the ones I care about."
Kudos to those who have established a pretty good overall athletics program. And kudos to the student-athletes who compete, and succeed, in less visible sports.
Doesn't mean things can't improve. Lord knows I want men's hoops to improve as much as anyone, but let's at least give credit where credit is due.

These responses are really a slap in the face of athletes who don't play men's basketball Not intended as a slap on any other program. Our tier 1 is MBB, WBB and Mlax. MBB is a completely different animal than the other tier 1 sports. MBB is equivalent to one’s major. As and Bs in the the other courses - D in the major. How’s that look on resume?

We have a D3 mentality. Our mentality would work extremely well at schools such as Williams, Amherst, Wesleyan etc -. Wonderful schools/great programs - it doesn’t work well in D1.

Please explain the criteria you used to place MBB, WBB, and Mlax in tier 1 and all the other teams in lower tiers? Particularly interested in what places baseball and volleyball in a lower tier.
