This group won’t have to contend with Covid-year players for roster spots. Will be interesting to see how their recruitment plays out with NIL money. Currently, big schools are taking veteran backups, ie. Supreme Cook, and paying out high five and low six figure collective deals. Will schools do the same with unproven prep players from this class or stick with midmajor transfers.
Whatever the answer, I think you need to recruit for a fresh team every year, with the assumption your stars will never stay more than a year or two. I can envision NCAA making two tiers eventually within D1: schools with big NLI money and the rest.
One of the best players in the CIAC this past season even as only a sophomore. Third team All-State was not a good indication of how talented he really was and is. Should have been picked for second or even first team IMO. Anyway as you can see from some of the other schools getting involved, competition will be tough for his services in a couple of years. I'm glad the Stags are getting involved early however.

Agree two year horizon is the new standard for recruiting. JY mentioned in a recent podcast that because of the transfer portal/ NIL coaches are being turned into junior college coaches expecting to recruit players for only two year stay.
I guess a coach at a mid-major like FF has to make offers to potential rising junior recruits like this kid. However, he is only going to get better in the next two years and be way out of the reach of a program like FF. Maybe, just maybe Coach Young should focus more on getting players for next season or he has a very good chance of not being around as the stags coach when a Class of ‘25 player becomes eligible to sign a letter of intent.
Don’t know where Bridgeport Prep was playing this past weekend or if we’ve offered any of their players, but this tweet indicates someone from FF watched them play. I am a bit confused as to why St. Francis NY is among the schools listed in the tweet, since they’ve discontinued all athletic programs.
I am guessing the info. posted is probably inaccurate. Lots of bad info on internet. Probably St. Francis University of Loretto, PA who remains a D1 program in the NEC.
Brady Loughlin (2025 | Don Bosco Prep, N.J.) Loughlin had himself a strong game from the floor in Bosco’s big win over Carroll, going 4-of-9 from deep as the 6-5 wing showed off his picture perfect catch-and-shoot abilities, though he can hit pull-up jumpers as well. But he also had a few impressive takes to the hoop, including one finish through contact for an and-one and another old-fashioned 3-point play where his spinning overhead chuck somehow found the bottom of the bucket. Loughlin’s already got three D-I offers and more outings like that won’t hurt.
Class of ‘25 6’7” Preston Fowler of East Catholic CT is listed as a member of NH Lightning. Don’t know if he played in this game. We also have an offer for class of ‘24 Jalil Bethea who was the leading scorer in the game. However, approximately one month after we offered Bethea —-UCLA offered him followed by a bunch of high major programs. Bethea is now ranked as the #16 player in the country for the class of ‘24.
We’ve offered class of ‘25 Nigel James. His team lost an early game at Peach Jam.
Falling to SFG was New England based Expressions. However, they’re recently ranked in the class of 2025 duo of sturdy wing Jaylen Harrell and high-scoring point guard Nigel James had their moments. Harrell is a skilled shooter with a strong body and he knows how to use it. He finished with 18 points and five rebounds. As for James, the six-footer has a tremendous hesitation dribble, is always looking to get downhill and really puts a lot of pressure on defenses
Schedule for the Peach Jam is showing NH Lightning with a game at 10:30am Friday July 7th which can be viewed by anyone with the NBA app and will also be simulcast on NBAtv. Expressions is also scheduled to play at 1:30 pm on that same day with the same two viewing options.
