For the true college basketball junkie, Pomeroy is initiating a poll which will result in a preseason 1 through 362 ranking of all teams—- created solely from the predictions of subscribers to his site. Each subscriber is given 50 hypothetical matchups, with the subscriber picking which of the two teams will have a higher Pomeroy ranking at the end of the season (post tournaments). Pomeroy will employ an algorithm to combine all results into a 1-362 preseason subscriber generated ranking. If 1,000 or more participate, Pomeroy will donate $500 to the charities of choice of the top 10 who made the most correct predictions in their 50 matchups. I realize not many subscribe to Pomeroy, but for those who do — here’s the link to his blog article detailing this poll. kenpom.com/blog/I have 4 MAAC teams among the 50 I have to predict. Canisius, Rider, Niagara and Fairfield. I’m asked to determine who will have a higher Pomeroy ranking at the end of the season Fairfield or South Dakota. Also among my 50 are Providence/Indiana and Oregon/Duke. If interested, you need to make your 50 selections before October 6th.

719 people participated in this Pomeroy exercise. Results will be posted in a few days.
A Pomeroy tweet: Pencils down. Voting for the H.U.M.A.N. poll is over. Thanks to the 719 people who participated in this experiment. This was a cool and fun project. I'll reveal the top 30 on blue sky at noon MT. The full list and all the data will be on my site in a few days.

Turns out Kevin Sweeney came in 1st out of the 719 people who participated in this. Out of the 50 hypothetical games he was given, he correctly guessed 41 times which of the two teams would have the higher Pomeroy ranking at the conclusion of the postseason. I got 30 of the 50 correct and came in 234th. One of my 50 hypothetical matchups was Fairfield vs. South Dakota. I correctly predicted we’d end up with a higher Pomeroy ranking (175) than South Dakota (322).
