Fairfield's Trey McLoughlin enjoying success in New York Mets' organization: 'A lot of fun'Shelton product and Fairfield University grad Trey McLoughlin has had a strong 2023 season, and he'll be at Dunkin' Park in Hartford with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Sept. 5-10.McLoughlin was a standout hurler at Shelton High before moving on to Fairfield, where he was a key starter his first two seasons before batting injuries as a junior and senior. Fairfield got off to a remarkable 28-0 start in 2021, McLoughlin's senior season, and made some noise in the Austin Regionals, beating Southern and Arizona State before falling to Texas in the regional finals. McLoughlin pitched sparingly that season after suffering shoulder bursitis after his first start, but struck out 11 in a MAAC Tournament elimination-game win over Canisius, then went 6 1/3 strong innings in a first-round regional loss to Arizona State. "That," McLoughlin recalled, "was some of the most fun I've ever had playing baseball."....

I hope Trey can make the big leagues. I am tired of hearing about the Pios having 2 MLB and 2 NFL players. Fortunately, we have Matt Turner competing at the highest level of soccer.

Making the Arizona Fall League is a big deal, as not just any prospect is invited to play in that league. Have success there means a MLB future becomes very possible. So I hope both Trey and Austin do well with this opportunity.

This year, I've seen some highlights of McLoughlin pitching and he looks the part of a MLB pitcher. Put up some nice numbers between A+ and AA.
I don't know much of anything about Pope. Is he a real hard thrower or does he have some elite pitch he just hasn't quite mastered? His MILB career stats are completely unremarkable bordering on bad... yet, he's progressed right up the AZ farm system.
On the other hand... Sansone was having a very good season and was released by TB.
Best of luck to all the Stags! It would be cool to have a few major leaguers coming out of the rising program.
