Mahoney Arena will be the venue as the Stags take on Canisius and Niagara this weekend. The Griffs record is 2-6 and the purple eagles 1-7 at this time . The last time out the stags scrapped and came away with a well deserved 3-2 set victory on the road against Bryant. Hopefully the stags can start of the MAAC regular season play with a pair of āWāsā . Go Stags!

This team like previous VB teams is fun to watch. Coach Someras team is somewhat inconsistent at this time playing great on some sets and the it appears napping on others. As a fan It will take some time to adjust to the current teams play as the Todd Kress teams of the past generally were 3-0 machines in MAAC play . I believe the stags will be very competitive in the MAAC and have a good chance to be champs once again! Stags up!

Niagara tomorrow in Mahoney . Niagara beaten 3-0 by QU today. I think the stags can beat NU tomorrow and keep pace with QU who is one of the top teams in the MAAC. Canisius makes the short ride and travels to Hamden to play QU. Go stags!

The win marked the 300th career victory for Head Coach Nancy Somera.fairfieldstags.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/coaches/nancy-somera/865"I was very happy with the balance we had on offense. All six hitters were involved, and that's a credit to them as well as our setters distributing the ball and our passers for keeping us in system," said Somera. "Defensively, we have some things to clean up. But sometimes it's good to play a scrappy type of match and have success even when you're not playing your best.""I am thankful to have had the opportunity at four different institutions to reach 300 wins," said Somera. "The wins may go to the head coach, but so much credit is due to a lot of dedicated assistant coaches and support staff over the years, and the talented student-athletes that I've had the privilege to work with on a daily basis."289 fans at the game. Stags hit .313 vs Niagara.103 and the stags front line controlled the important net play. Things will become more difficult next weekend as the stags are on the road at Siena and a very good Marist team on Sunday. I would say that both Canisius and Niagara are not the strongest teams in the conference with Canisius being better then Niagara.
