Battle of #1 Stags vs #2 Bobcats takes place in Hamden Ct at 1pm. Perhaps the most important match of the season as the stags hold only a 1 game lead over the Bobcats in the MAAC standings. Additionally, FF has beaten QU earlier in the season and if victorious on Sunday would hold the tie- breaker if needed at season end. FF should be well rested after a week off from returning from a weekend sweep of Canisius and Niagara . QU on the other hand played a match on Wednesday. Should be a great contest that I hope the stags can win on the road. Stags up!

Close sets but the Stags just couldn't pull it off.
Unfortunately balls have to be played off the roof as QU plays VB in the old gym. Even the scoreboard was not working properly.
Can't understand if you have a great arena, why you would play balls off the roof in their old crapy gym.
Understand the atmosphere is more intimate but for the sake of the game, should be played where the roof is not an issue.
Pink noisemakers may have been the difference. π

Back from Hamden watching the stags loose a key match 3-1 and split the regular season with QU. The stags just did not quite have it today as the Bobcats outplayed them in three straight sets after FF took the first set. QU out hit FF and doubled them in blocking, not a formula for a FF success. The match today was a preview of what will most likely be a the MAAC championship game. The good news is the MAAC championship will be hosted by FF at the βLeoβ. Ps- The QU volleyball venue is really substandard for D1. Surprising because QU generally has good facilities. The low ceiling and the caroms which come off of the ceiling are an advantage for QU because they practice there daily.

"We're both good teams, and Quinnipiac was a little better than us today, just like we were a little better than them a few weeks ago," said Head Coach Nancy Somera. "We just didn't get enough quality swings today. Whether it was our passing, our second contact, or the swings themselves -- when we put all of that together, we were very good. But we had too many breakdowns along the way. I'm proud of how we fought, we just need to clean up some of the execution and the details that make the difference when you get down to it in these close sets."The Stags close out the regular season home slate with three matches at Mahoney Arena this week. Fairfield hosts Manhattan on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7pm, Siena on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1pm and Marist on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 pm. Saturday's match will be Senior Day for the Stags, with graduate student Elle Shult and seniors Kyla Berg and Noelle Carey set to be recognized prior to the match. Sounds like the set-up is similar to the situation they have at Rays baseball games down in Tampa. You're right, that's not very smart considering they indeed have a better facility right there about a mile away.

Stag Volleyball at Alumni Hall had the ball bounce off the scoreboard on occasion. Quinnipiac's Burt Kahn CourtBurt Kahn Court is named in honor of the former Quinnipiac men's basketball coach and Athletic Director. Today, the gymnasium is the home of the volleyball program, along with uses for intramurals and recreation. The capacity is 2,000. Previously, it was the home of the Quinnipiac men's basketball team from 1969-2006. Most recently, the facility underwent an extensive renovation in the summer of 2002, including new state-of-the-scoreboards located in each end zone and a refurbished hardwood surface.
