Stags Field Hockey @stags_FH Alex Senior and Lucie Vincent score a pair of goals while Carmel Van Dijk adds another goal as Stags finish NEC slate at 7-0. #WeAreStags #StagsCompeteLucie Vincent and Alex Senior each scored a pair of goals to lead the Fairfield University Field Hockey team to a 5-0 win over Merrimack College this afternoon. The decision was the 250th career victory for Head Coach Jackie Kane. With the win, the Stags finished their Northeast Conference slate with an unbeaten record of (7-0), giving them the top-seed in next weekend's championship. It marks the second time in the last three years that Fairfield went undefeated in conference play, last accomplishing the task in 2021. Fairfield finishes up the regular season on Sunday with another road game, heading back to Massachusetts for an afternoon game with the College of the Holy Cross (8-8)(2-4). The game is scheduled for a Noon start. Following that date, the Stags (13-3)(7-0) will prepare for the 2023 NEC Field Hockey Championship which begins with semifinal play on Friday, November 3. The semifinal winners will face each other for the conference title on Sunday, November 5. The tournament will be hosted by Wagner College.

Fairfield Field Hockey was born as a club sport in 1974 and became a varsity sport prior to the 1980 season. 1974 - Fairfield Field Hockey becomes a club sport. The Stags play three contests and win one. 1980 - Field hockey gains varsity status at the Division III level. 1982 - Fairfield Field Hockey gains Division I status. 1989 - Fairfield plays a full Division I schedule for the first time in school history. 1995 - Jackie Kane β87 becomes the programβs sixth head coach. 2019 - #25 Fairfield won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game with a 3-1 decision at home over #23 American University before falling (1-2) in overtime to #2 UConn at Storrs.
