Hopefully, Goodine will stay among the national leaders for the remainder of the season. Today, Brycen is tied for 1st in this category with Koby Brea of Dayton. The % leaders will be taken from the NCAA stats page. Player (School) ….% …3PM .3PA Brea(Dayton)………..49.5…..51…103 Goodine(FF). ………..49.5…..47…..95 McKneely(UVa)……..48.9…..44…..90 Knell(BYU)………..…..47.1……49…104
Of the four players above, Goodine is the only one with only one game this week. Each of the other 3 will have played 2 games before Sunday. Brea’s next game is tomorrow (Tuesday the 23rd) night at LaSalle.
If you don’t round off to a single decimal point, Goodine is currently in second place in the NCAA statistics for 3 point FG%. Dayton plays at LaSalle tonight, so depending on if Brea attempts any threes tonight —- he’ll either maintain, increase or lose his lead in this category.

Yes, every shot matters, and you can count on things changing in some way tonight. I hope BG can maintain his lead it would be great to have a Stag lead the nation in 3 point shooting. This has never happened before and its been rare that any Stag led any statistical category. Darren Phillip, Deng Gai, John Ryan and Troy Bradford are the only players to have done this. Very rare occurrence for a Stag. I'll be cheering hard for BG to do it.
Since a player needs to make 2.5 threes per game to qualify for this NCAA statistic, Brycen needs to make at least one 3-pointer Sunday to stay in the lead nationally in this category. If he had the exact same numbers from beyond the arc (47 of 95) and had played in the New Hampshire game, he would not be leading in this category in the official NCAA statistics as he would have played in 19 games so he would need more than 47.5 made threes (19X2.5=47.5).
Of course in addition to making a 3-pointer, he’d probably want to hit above 40% of his 3 point attempts on Sunday as missing a lot of treys will adversely affect his 3pt% for the season (as well as probably make it more difficult for us to get the W on Sunday).
By going 7 for 11 on his 3 point attempts last night, Goodine has now made enough 3s in the games that he has played in to qualify for the NCAA official stats for 3 point %. Having made 71 treys for the season so far, even if he doesn’t attempt a single three pointer against MSM, he’d still have made enough 3s to qualify in the 3 point % category. However, I really doubt that Goodine won’t attempt some treys on Saturday, so he’d need to hit over half of his attempts from beyond the arc to improve his current 49% in this category — which places him second in D1 to Dayton’s Koby Brea, who’s hit 49.4% of his three point attempts this season.
