Recruiting is becoming a lot tougher with Michigan, Boston U, and Richmond entering the college lacrosse scene offering the Fairfield County recruits even more options. If we want to continue to be in the mix for the local upper echelon recruits, then we need to build the lacrosse stadium ASAP. I feel like we are experiencing the 70s basketball program all over again. Great coach and players with tepid institutional support. You can't just sit around hoping that one alumni will just come along with $5 million. Sometimes you need to take some risks and be confident that the donations will come once the U and Prep alumni start to see some tangible momentum from the administrations. With our entry into the CAA and the Prep winning the State Title, NOW is the time to build in order to send the message to the entire lacrosse community that Fairfield is committed 110% to winning the National Championship and even more State Titles at the Prep.

Hoping or waiting till a University or Prep donor comes forward is NOT the way to go. IMO, neither is still behind the scenes efforts. What IS needed now is the announcement of the public phase of a Capital Campaign for Stag Athletics. Unless our fellow alumni are somehow connected to the Lax programs or readers of this message board then they most likely aren't even aware of the successes or needs of Stag Lacrosse and the "proposed" renovation of Alumni Field. If the renovation of Alumni Field was a high priority for the University then a capital campaign would be started or at the very least it would be being promoted. Hard to believe that nothing about the renovation plan is on the University's website or Stag website or Alumni website?
Having both the University's Treasurer/VP of Finance and the VP of Advancement resign (for whatever reasons) is not helping to formulate and implement a strategy to get the renovation funded, construction started and the new (Your Name Here) Alumni Field open. A very big potential ECAC/CAA asset to the University and an invaluable recruitment tool for getting top prospective players for Coach Copelan and his staff is being wasted while nothing about the renovation is being promoted or funds being actively and publicly solicited. How hard would it be to at least have the architects rendering with a link about more information and how to donate on the front page of the University's website and the Stag website? Also why isn't AR already selling engraved bricks/stones to alumni for a Donation Entrance Walkway to the new lacrosse stadium? Apparently it's very hard or too hard to do I guess. If so then just ask Dr. Lahey at Quinnipiac or the fellow Jesuits down at Loyola how to do it as they seem to have the way to get things done and built.
Senior Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff Mark Reed will oversee the areas Frost administered until a replacement is found for her. Assistant Vice President and Controller Ken Fontaine will oversee Dolan’s past departments along with retired Associate Vice President for Finance Michael Maccarone, until a new Chief Financial Officer is found.....
