Over the years on this board we have been quick to express dissatisfaction with the promotion of Stags athletics.
Yes, winning helps, but I think it's time to give credit where it is due. It is time to give Zach Dayton and his team a shout out for a job well done.
Sellouts don't just happen. Fan engagement at the event doesn't just happen. Students don't always show up, yet Zach and team are doing a wonderful job getting families, sports clubs and the community in general engaged and involved. And the arena graphics are just getting better as we get more experience in this new environment. (I think we've all been tickled by thehamster 😜, we missed him at the Siena game)
What I'll call the "Mahoney Experience", be it time outs, halftime or pregame, blows away anyone in our conference and probably at the top of all mid-major programs.
The community is discovering it and hopefully will become a tradition and the event in town that folks don't want to miss.
Congrats Zach and team. Keep it coming!

I have had several interactions with Zach the past few years. Without a doubt, the right guy for the job and the University. Very approachable, so if you see him, let him know what a great job he is doing.

Lots of things went right this weekend for a good crowd - limited competition (no nfl) , siblings weekend (don’t know how much FU coordinated between athletics and FUSA(or whoever ran that)), Siena fans travel, an alumni event, a town event (need to do more of that) and winning - this one was easier than most. December and January crowds need work.

A wiseman once said, “If you build it, they will come!”
I think the student turnout for the Siena game was not very good. What I remember from the game was the turnout was driven by community participation, lots of families and small children. The place was full so it really does not matter. Ps- Attending the game yesterday was Greg Nero and his extended family . If u remember Greg was recruited by Jerry Hobbie/ TOT and had a terrific initial season. He went on to play for Cooley but his accomplishments were diminished because of a injuries and sickness. Nice to meet and greet Greg once again. Go Stags.
