From ESPN’s championship week predictions. One analyst says Rider, another St. Peters, and two (including Lunardi below) pick Fairfield:
“Why Fairfield will win: It seemed odd when Fairfield moved on from Jay Young in the fall and went with assistant Chris Casey as the interim coach. The Stags were picked sixth in the league at the start of the year and will instead enter the MAAC tournament as a top seed. Somehow they have the best offense in the league and can ride that to an unexpected NCAA bid. -- Lunardi”
One thing for sure - it’s gonna be a wild ride to the finish line. Go Stags!

The fact that no one picked QU probably means they will win it.

How refreshing to be in the conversation! Go Stags!! Pretty wide open. There are probably 5-6 teams that could win this if they play well. And for the first time in a long time, we are one of them! Nice feeling, but first time in a while I’m nervous about the tournament because we can win.

Nice to see the tourney wide open for a change without Iona hovering above everyone as the clear favorite.

“Best offense in the league” ….when it all clicks. It is nerve-wracking to think about the tournament after witnessing a couple of our close losses. The connectivity that Casey speaks of just wasn’t there at Marist.
