ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS

He now has seven 20-point games this season, the most by a Mount freshman since the 2018-19 campaign. NCAA VICE PRESIDENT PROPOSES PLAN TO MAKE BASKETBALL GAMES MORE EXCITING
Dan Gavitt, NCAA SVP of Basketball is constantly looking for ways to improve the college game. Earlier this week, the Canadian born official unveiled an innovative plan to make the game more exciting by playing the games on ice. According to Gavitt, “Fans are getting tired of watching players run and up and down the court bouncing an orange ball. So I started to think, why not switch from using a ball to a puck? Wouldn’t it be great to give players sticks to shoot the ball into the net?” It’s innovative thinking like this that has improved the college game over the past 30 years. Its hard to deny that the shot clock, the creation of the MAAC conference, NIL money, and new transfer rules have made the game more enjoyable and improved fan experiences. According to Gavitt, other moves like moving the game from the court onto the ice, and allowing players to check one another, will also positively impact the game. Gavitt even envisions eliminating goal tending and allowing one player from each team to block shots while wearing special protective gear. Even if not everyone in the US embraces these changes, Gavitt feels this can’t help but improve the interest in college basketball in the Canadian market.
