On Monday or Tuesday the MAAC will announce its all MAAC first and second teams. Also the ALL ROOKIE team and Player of the Year will be named. I believe both Caleb and Jalen deserve first team selection but it will be tough to get both on. Saturday's player performances at our MSM game will probably determine whether Leach or Dakota Leffew make first team.
For what it's worth with a game still left here is my prediction for first team:
Matt Balanc ( Quin) , Mervin James (Rider), Corey Washington( St. Peters), Caleb Fields, Jalen Leach/Dakota Leffew (MSM).
I am hoping Brycen has earned a second team slot. Jasper Floyd, 3rd team?
Player of the year: Caleb or Balanc Rookie of the Year: Montgomery from MSM Your thoughts?
I think Caleb and Jalen have both earned it. That being said, I think the will probably select Leffew so as not to have two from one team. Caleb for POY. No one else in the league has been the leader and consistent player he has been.
Coach Casey should be COY. No one expected what he has done, on a moment’s notice, with a team that was predicted to be low in the standings at the beginning of the season.

I'd like to see Casey get COY. Kudos to Mason and Dunne, but I see it between Pecora and Casey. Maybe it comes down to Sunday's outcome? Regardless, what Casey has done as an interim HC and given the pre-season turmoil and early season struggles has been remarkable. He took what looked like another lost year and has made it a lot of fun.
It should be interesting to see how the Awards are handed out... Both QU and FU were picked middle-of-the-pack, QU @ 5th, FU @ 6th, in preseason MAAC poll. QU's Balanc and FU's Fields were pre-season 1st and 2nd Teamers, respectively. But, you have to give Leach a look, too. I am not sure how pre-season picks impact post-season awards but, for Leach to get POY after not have been named to any pre-season team would be a monumental accomplishment. Statistically, Fields and Leach are very close. COY candidates Pecora and Casey, also are neck-and-neck, given both have outperformed this season. Don't sleep on Paulus, either as he has done a great job this year, as well. My guess is that it will come down to this weekend. If QU wins the MAAC outright, Balanc and Pecora get the nods. If Fairfield wins a share of the Regular Season title, Casey gets the nod over Pecora. If QU loses and FU wins with Fields going bananas, maybe that bumps him up over Balanc... Very close as I see it...
I think the writer from the New Jersey paper think exactly alike on the MAAC’s top players. on his great game today. Based on his great game today I believe Jalen.has solidified his first team selection.
