McNamara, former Syracuse assistant, takes the Siena head coaching position and Engelstad leaves the head coach position at Mount St. Mary’s to become an assistant an assistant at Syracuse. Maybe Engelstad got tired of seeing his most talented players leave via the portal. Does anyone know if MSM’s even has a NIL collective?
Makes sense to me, I believe I read somewhere he was making $169k a year which is low for a D1 H/C job. Most likely more $$$ for assistant job at Syracuse. Because of the portal and the NIL$ it will become near impossible for most mid-major coaches to bring in players and develop them over four year period into a winning team.
This one is a head scratcher. Chicago State will join the NEC this summer. Chicago State’s head coach has decided to take an assistant coaching position at LIU, a NEC school. Reportedly his assistant coaching salary will make him the 2nd highest paid coach in the NEC, second only to the LIU head coach. He’ll be making more than the head coaches of Wagner, FDU, Sacred Heart, and CCSU as well as all the other head coaches of NEC teams.

^To me the only rational for doing this on either side is that Strickland has a planned departure, and they are putting their New Head Coach in place now for when an announcement is made. Its a good move if that's the reason. Note Gillion is being named an "Associate head coach," a position that the school did not previously have. I am predicting Gillion is the Head Coach by January, time will tell.
I can now confirm through multiple sources that Swarthmore head coach Landry Kosmalski is also a finalist. Kosmalski, who played at Davidson, has gone 224-93 (.707) in 11-seasons at Swarthmore.
I have also heard that Lind was the first on-campus interview, followed by Smith and Kosmalski. Some sources have said this is the final three, others have Farrelly in this group as well – I’ll call it a final 3.5.
I’m still hearing that the target date to wrap this up is Friday.
