Before I begin let me assure everyone that my intention is not to make excuses for our team. . But it seemed curious to me that a team that was so efficient during the regular season at distance shooting should suddenly find its major weapon ineffective when it played in Atlantic City. Then I remembered an incident that occurred in the 1970s. Bill Bradley and his Knick teammates. were involved in pregame shooting drills on the court of an opposing team. Bradley, who was a renowned outside shooter, believed that the rim height was not correct and he was proved to be right when the basket height was measured. There was an adjustment made of one or two inches and the game was ready to be played. As I watched our team struggle with shooting from the perimeter, I wondered if there might be a like scenario in Atlantic City. A one or two inch discrepancy in basket height could be an important performance determinant for a team, like ours, that depends so much on distance shooting. And for those who say that all the tourney teams played at the same baskets and so were performing with the same restrictions, I contend that those teams whose offense was designed to operate in the lane and near the hoop would be less effected by basket height. For our perimeter shooting team, a basket height disparity of one or two inches would be significant. Just wondering…
IMO, ALL teams had trouble with the depth perception created by the cavernous convention hall. Then 3 point shooting in both the men's and women's tournament seemed unusually low.

Noticed a lot of shots (by all the teams) seemed to rattle in and out all tournament long. That's a sign of tight rims. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of hoop games played there during the regular season.
Agree, can't make excuses as both sides had the same court and baskets to deal wtih.
But, also noticed an unusual clanking sound when the ball hit one side of the rims on both ends.
Almost sounded like something was loose or not fitting right.
I have a difficult time understanding the "cavernous" argument.
Is Madison Square Garden not cavernous? That said, if we are going to play there the next two tournaments, there should be some process put in place to study this.
We know one thing, this "historic" building was NOT DESIGNED TO PLAY BASKETBALL.
Another Ensor legacy, playing second fiddle to the NJ State wrestling championships.

Did not think about the rim etc , but certainly makes sense to me that something else other than our poor showing by all our great 3 point shooters all year indeed may have been responsible for our poor 3 point shooting during the 3 games at AC
Interesting theory which could be tested in the CBI. Well for all u guys who want to theorize that FF crappy 3 pt shooting was a mechanical issue because of Boardwalk hall perhaps those theories will be tested in the CBI tournament in Daytona. If the stags shoot close to their 38% regular season average your theory MAY just be valid. However, all will realize the theory is nothing but HOT air if the stags go down to Daytona beach and shoot 3pt. closer to the 19% as they did in AC.
Perhaps there is some validity to the theories presented about AC and the stags men poor 3pt shooting. Vs The FF women of course played in the same building as the men shooting against a common background and rims. The FF women during the regular season shot 3pt. @ 35% or 281/844. During the three games at AC they were @ 25% 18/72.

It is certainly worth researching the issue and not just leaving the calibration of the height and the rims to the Boardwalk Hall management and staff. MAAC needs to address and be proactive. If its just poor shooting, so be it.
It would be nice if the MAAC did the same concept of other leagues and gave the lower seed the home court advantage all the way through, or at least to the finals. I am curoius what the stat line is for all men and womens teams for the seasons they all had, versus the games at AC for FG%.
As I talk to people about this weekend, more and more people are talking about the rims sounding weird. LOOK AT THE STATS. Look at the stats for all teams for that matter. Seems like this was a REAL ISSUE that must be addressed. Very frustrating. Obviously not a basketball venue, out of the way, and now this.
Recalling the scene in “Hoosiers” where Hickory High arrives at the Butler field house for the first time, and Coach Dale takes out a tape measure to assure team that rim is 10’ high and foul line is 15’ from basket. I guess coaches are going to have to start measuring when they arrive at the NCAA venues. Hard to believe this happened. Agree that if this happened at NCAA Tournament, who knows if any quality control was exercised at Atlantic City.
