…. has the interesting effect where St. John’s is looking to get an additional year for Ledlum and Dingle. I’d imagine if they’re successful, every school which has taken an Ivy League grad transfer would likely do the same. For example, if the NCAA grants the additional year for Ledlum and Dingle —— whatever school Yale’s Matt Knowling commits to might have him for two seasons.
I’m confused those players who played as part of the reduced schedule Covid Year are allowed to play for five seasons. Jalen Leach is an example of a 5 season player! Why shouldn’t the Ivy League players be allowed a 5th year who were not allowed to play in ‘21 by their league ?

Think of it this way. The 20-21 season was a freebie. It didn't count against anyone no matter what you did... play.. don't play... evacuate to a tropical island... It was essentially a universal red shirt season... but you could play, if you wanted to! The Ivy League chose not to play. This didn't impact the ability of their student-athletes to have 4 years of eligibility. They did.
The ruling was never about making all college athletes have 5 years of eligibility.
The two St. John’s players have filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in the hopes they’ll be granted an additional year to play for St. John’s. The Ivy League teams did not play a 2021 season so even though they played at St. John’s as grad transfers last season, they believe they should be given an additional year to make up for the year they didn’t get to play while they were at Harvard and Penn.
they should have no shot at this. both have played 4 eligible years.
Does the NCAA have any rules/regulations anymore? I think they will be granted this. Kids that were in school during COVID got 5 years to play. Why not them?

Well the why not is because for everyone else one of those 5 years was a covid year with a very short schedule. On average teams played not a full season but less than 80% of a season. And for some schools they played as few as 60% of their games. So why should other players get a shortened 5th season and they players get a full season? The argument could be made that those player who missed 16 games should get another season or at least come back for 16 games.
Its insanity. No one got 5 full season. Everyone is getting 4 full seasons some got additional games. These guys are looking for 5 full seasons. No basis to grant that in my mind.
Seems like a lot of crybabies now. If you have bad luck or things don’t workout, don’t get up and dust yourself off, just whine, complain and sue. Losing all sense of self achievement for a sense of entitlement and childishness.
