Terrific signing! Yes he is short( 5ft,8in.) but small, fast, aggressive guards traditionally have done quite well in the MAAC. Plus he is a very good 3 point shooter who a year ago shot the 3 at a 42% clip. Very pleased with this pickup. Now let's get a taller scoring guard with a game similar to Jalen Leach. I believe we are progressing in the right direction for next year.

All-Patriot League Second Team
Led the conference in scoring. 17.2 PPG
The guard connected on 75 3-pointers during the year, 44 in Patriot League play and led the conference in 3-pointers made during League action with 2.9.
He also was tops in the Patriot League in free-throw percentage (.910), fifth in steals per game (1.5) and eighth in assists (3.0).
I really don’t like small guards , however this guy has shown he can get it done. So a good signing . 2023-24 SEASON STATS PTS 17.3, reb 2.6, AST. 2.9, FG%38.4 A positive assist to TO ratio. 2.9:2.0 and something that I really like a 91% FT shooter.

He actually averaged 20.8 ppg in Patriot League games. Numbers weren't quite so good against higher-level competition (which shouldn't be too surprising).
Overall FG% was a little low - but his team was terrible and I bet he was having to force a lot of shots. Even so, his 3P% is excellent. FT% also great. Better team around him and I bet his efficiency improves.

Yes efficiency, especially in the area of assists, probably suffered because as you say, his team was terrible, especially on offense as indicated by the fact the Greyhounds only scored 64 PPG. He averaged 2.9 in that category, but how many possible others were left off the table because of his teammates, none of whom other than Perry averaged double-figures in scoring? And I'm sure they played a slowdown, walk-it-up kind of offense too which probably held his scoring production down to some degree. Things will be different under Casey I'm sure. Anyway time will tell, but to me it looks like his role will be sort of a Fields replacement, although to be fair it would be quite a stretch to suggest he could have the same positive effect on the team that Caleb had this past season. One final thought on this happening which might have some people thinking it a negative that this kid is coming from a dreadful Patriot League squad that didn't win much and therefore implying he might not be a valuable player for us. The fact is there are two well-known former Loyola players who performed for losing teams at that school recently who have made their marks in other situations once they left. The first is Cam Spencer who was only there two years ago and has obviously made his mark at UConn this past season and Rutgers before that. And the second is a pro in the NBA in Santi Aldama who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. So maybe the precedent has been set for another former Hound to experience success in a new situation. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

You can see from the video that Deon compensates for his lack of height against his defenders by shooting his threes about two-three feet farther out from the line. Given that, his 3 pt percentage is very impressive. Hey, whatever works, but hopefully he has even more in his repertoire. Spud Webb 2.0? I hope so.
