Recent tweet by Grad Assistant Chuck Asetta. Last time I remember seeing this was right before Yetna committed to us. I don’t know if it’s referring to a transfer, prep recruit, or perhaps someone in the portal deciding to return to Fairfield.
Sorry I was cryptic on another thread. Fairfield had a visit from Christian Wright from Oregon State last few days. I’m pretty sure the GIF is that from our GA Chuck.
Christian is a class of 2021 3 star kid who committed to Iona and Rick Pitino but then when Walter Clayton committed, Christian decommitted and went to Georgia for one year under Tom Crean (who called a game of ours on ESPNU last year now that he’s not coaching). 247sports.com/player/christian-wright-46054886/high-school-265538/
His shooting percentage was not great (which is kind in a sense to say) but the skill is there even in limited HM minutes. I think he can easily be a 10 PPG guy at our level and probably projects as a 2G facilitator to help Deon with ball handling. After watching some games his shot really doesn’t look that bad…https://youtu.be/oOT7KLLhO7I?si=WdI5HdASLm10fMI6

He has good size at 6’-3” and a positive assist to TO ratio all good. However, as stated his shooting % is just rather ordinary and his 3pt shooting at 26% is below average.

If he committed to Pitino, then went to Georgia under Crean and started quite a few games for him and then Wayne Tinkle at Oregon State, that probably means he is a good athlete who brings a lot of positive traits to the table besides just scoring and shooting (which admittedly is bad according to the statistics listed here). However one stat which suggests maybe a better picture is his free throw mark of over 84%, and that comes from a pretty big sample of over 130 attempts over a three year period. Anyway I'm sure the staff must think he would be worthy as a possible Stag because why else would they have him on campus for a visit? Be interesting to see what happens with this kid.

If you look at his highlight videos he plays fast. Shooting percentage was very low but his FT % very high. Needless to say he is an above average athlete for the MAAC.

Exactly, like catch and shoot doesn’t look bad or hitched. Driving to rim strong and honestly I noticed quickness like you said which will play in the MAAC.
Assuming he plays good D. Also will help at PG. Would hope shoots better with a fresh start. Look what Caleb did. Can’t expect that turnaround. But you hope for a league average shooter with superior athleticism who can defend and get to the rim. If he’s in, need another proven scorer.

Usually guys that are good foul shooters become good game shooters so there is reason to hope, but his shooting numbers really give me hesitancy about this recruit.
