"#14 Isaac Munkadi 2024 6'10 Returns after a monster junior season where he averaged 19 pts, 12.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Isaac is a nightmare for defenders because of his ability to stretch the floor by knocking down 3's and blowing by bigs. He is also a handful; on the low block, punishing smaller defenders."
I hope this is the guy. Looks very athletic and moves well.
Nashville, you have to be familiar with this guy. π
Actually (unfortunately) I am not as I never watched his team play. Everything about that school and program are basically a secret and for all I know they don't play any home games. But one thing I am finding out now is they were one of the best prep school squads in the country and in fact in many of the contests they played, Munkadi was front and center in the box score in helping them to victory. Even voted as the AAA defensive POY if what I am reading is correct, which if true is amazing! One contradiction however that catches my eye is that he was only rated in the NERR final 2024 listings as #21 Connecticut and #54 NE, certainly mid-level college predictability but yet not especially outstanding. So I am a bit confused at this conflicting information other than saying perhaps he is a hidden talent who could (emphasize COULD) become a difference-maker for the Stags. Finally I will say that since he is from the Congo, perhaps Jonathan Kasibabu had some connection to this union considering he had a great experience at Fairfield a few years ago. Anyway, I'm excited to see how this works out.

A lot of my comments in my previous post were based on the info of this Recruit the Bronx website. By clicking on each of the many headings you will see a lot of box scores and honors this kid picked up during the past season. And keep in mind, the competition he faced was some of the best in the country and certainly way above normal high school comp such as you would see in regular state high school ball.

Isaac is a very interesting and mysterious prospect; maybe a gamble, but maybe a future force. His extremely limited video is simply a drill and doesn't really showcase anything against competition, yet his box scores are very good. He does appear to have speed, with a good first step towards the basket. If true, that is a dimension we were missing. Now, can he rebound, hang on to the ball, and not be a foul machine? Heβs a very welcomed addition imo due to his mobility. I felt the same way when Moumine signed, so I hope this plays out differently.

In prior years I would be excited about this signing. However in the new landscape of college hoops the truth is IF we are fortunate enough to unlock his potential he will be off to greener pastures the next year.

And that points to only signing freshman who you feel can contribute immediately.
No time to work on a "project" anymore.
In today's world, focus experience and college stats in the portal.

even if it plays out that way - it doesn't mean he won't help the Stags in 2024-2025.
speculation is that you might see some higher quality freshman coming to mid-majors, since they know they can insta-transfer after a year or two and with a likely big $NIL$ payout... instead of riding the P5 pine behind older $NIL$ transfers and then who knows what.
