If anyone is good at solving mysteries, maybe he/she can figure out what's going on with the CBE subregional. The link to what's been announced so far by Wofford shows them hosting UMES on Nov 21 and traveling to New York to play Columbia on Nov. 24.
The participants in last year's CBE were: Alabama, Arizona State, Bethune-Cookman, Central Connecticut State, Chicago State, Georgia State, Iowa State, Maryland, Monmouth, Oakland, Towson, Western Carolina
Last year Monmouth hosted a subregional playing Bethune-Cookman, CCSU, and Towson on consecutive nights the weekend before Thanksgiving. However, this year bloggingthebracket.com is listing only 8 teams for the "tourney" and all 8 are already anounced.
In the bloggingthebracket primer on exempt tournaments article, it's mentioned that the MAAC has the most in conference games each season (20) while the Atlantic Sun Conference and Ivy League have the fewest conference games per season (14).

Just ran across a blog from Elsberry in which he says the Stags will be playing Maryland-Eastern Shore at home. I wonder if that is correct as I had thought that match-up would be away. Also wonder about the validity of that considering he says we will also be hosting Bucknell. I'm quite sure that's incorrect. We are most definitely playing them in Pa. this coming year. Still (hopefully) 3 more mystery contests to announce besides the above plus Yale (Conn. 6) Columbia (H), @unc, @northwestern, SHU, and Loyola (H).
Any idea who our last few OOC opponents will be? I would like to see some road games in the NYC area. I know last year Martin mentioned playing in NYC or getting a local NYC game each year. The result wasn't fun but the game at Barclays was a good time.

Interesting to note that Yale (our first opponent) will be going to Australia next week to play four exhibition games. (see Yale website for details). Normally hard to get a read on what the results from these games mean as far as the overall strength of a given team. Remember Sydney's first year, Italy, basic domination of the opposition? But it's fun to look at the results anyway I think. The Bulldogs lose a lot from last season including All-Ivy player Javier Duren. But they do bring back many important people including another All-Ivy performer in Justin Sears. Plus they get back a couple of important players who didn't play last year in Nick Victor and Brandon Sherrod. They also will be highly motivated this coming season as they are probably still smarting from the fact that they were twice within a week of each other literally within seconds of being the league champs and going to the NCAA Tournament, something the program had not been able to accomplish for well over 50 years. This will be the hardest recent opening test yet for the Stags considering they have yet to lose a game in the season opening Connecticut 6 competition. But anyway, time to start looking ahead. Season opener is just a little over 3 months away!

Looks like Sacred Heart's Barnett will not be available for their game with us on November 21st.
...Per a source inside the Pioneers’ program, junior forward De’von Barnett had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder in June and will likely miss the entire 2015-16 season as a result...
...This past season, Barnett finished third among teammates in scoring (10.6 ppg), second in rebounding (4.8 rpg) and second in field goal percentage (56.8%). His shot efficiency around the rim (64.7%) and from several feet out (47.7%) was the biggest strength of a player considered by many to be among the NEC top 10. Assuming Barnett misses next season, the Sacred Heart depth chart now looks something like this:
PG: Cane Broome, Sean Hoehn SG: Quincy McKnight, Chris Robinson F: Matej Buovac, Jermaine Ukaegbu F: Jordan Allen, Eyimofe Edukugho PF: Tevin Falzon, Filip Nowicki, Cole Walton

A human interest story on incoming Yale freshmen Trey Phills whose dad Bobby played in the NBA for the Charlotte Hornets.
I agree with Nashville that Yale will be our most difficult opening game since the CT-6 was initiated. They've grown accustomed to success after winning 22 games last season and 19 games the year before that. As Nashville pointed out, they'd love to secure the automati by winning the Ivy League title this year after narrowly missing out last season. I'm guessing we'll be about a 3 to 4 point underdog for our season opener.

Yale lost their first game by 10 points. They played the regular season champs from a highly rated league. One big reason, they shot the ball very poorly from the 3-point line. And their opponent (Ringwood) kept Justin Sears from having a big game. Like I said before, results from these trips are always difficult to judge whether they mean anything as to the overall power of a team. And also, the Bulldogs could not use any freshmen and also Brandon Sherrod (because he didn't play last year). But results are interesting for this hoops starved fan. Three more will be coming up in the next week!
College Sports Madness' preview of Northwestern which they're placing #94 in their top 144 preview. Iona has not yet been listed on CSM's top 144 preview. It's interesting to me to see that Iona is considered better by CSM than a fairly decent Big Ten school like Northwestern.

Hoops fans during August are starved for information and CSM gives us something to look forward to every day. As for the MAAC, I am not surprised Iona is ahead of Northwestern, Northeastern or South Carolina. The Gaels RPI over the past several years, brings them respect in the media. This year the Gaels graduated All MAAC center David Laury, however he is being replaced by three formidable big men, including a 6'9" 255 pounder who is a real stud. I would not be surprised to see them in the top 60-70 CSM rankings, which is great for the MAAC.

If CSM has Iona in the 60-70 range this year, that would be a significant improvement over last season when CSM picked them for 1st in the MAAC but gave them a #107 preview ranking.
