I wouldn't mind it at this rate. Jay Young is the epitome example we can't hire from non academic schools. Syds fault was his first staff we all knew it. But he was too smart for his own good. Atleast he produced arguably the best player in program history.
We need to be looking at the next Hire from an academic school or a top tier program that has true ties to the NEPSAC
My Shortlist already:
Matt Kingsley- Yale Kimani Young-UCONN Mike Sotsky- Havard Brett MacConnell- Princeton Darren Savino-UCLA
All great options if we want to make this A-10 Run
Mike Nardi, Nova. Big ties from Fairfield with one of their highest donors Peter Hardiing who is a Nova grad gives a lot to our program.
Would love Mike too great guy from what I have heard. Just not alot of NYC ties or NEPSAC. Tired of the Philly, Maryland, Virginia thing. We need the NEPSAC and the city on lock for recruits
Multiple sources confirmed the resignation is the result of an investigation into inappropriate behavior. The allegations stemmed from an incident that occurred on the school’s recent foreign tour to Costa Rica. Stags assistant coach Bryan Dougher was also removed from the school’s website this morning, but there are no official statements from the school regarding his dismissal.
Assistant coach James Johns and Director of Operations Matt Knezovic are the only remaining staff members listed under Casey. It’s unclear if Casey will add anyone to the bench before the season begins.
Jay Young was already on the hot seat heading into this season because of his performance on the court. Fairfield will get a head start on their coaching search and they’ll have a healthy candidate pool to choose from. The university has heavily invested in the basketball program in recent years, turning it into one of the premiere job opportunities in the conference. They opened a brand new arena last season and the NIL collective is strong for the level of competition. As we reported in September, “A pair of UConn assistants have their eyes on this one.”
Fairfield opens their season on November 6 at Boston College.
UPDATE Fairfield assistant coach James Johns is also on leave pending an investigation into the incident in Costa Rica, per source.

Just finding this out now, therefore I am late to the (knowledge) party and therefore will withhold any thoughts until I think about this and what it means. As a general statement though, obviously this sucks for everyone who cares about the program. Nothing more to add at the present time.
What a mess. Clean house. Start with Schlickman and start over. You can’t patch this with interim coaches associated with the prior regime.
So your solution is to hire a new coach for the coming season and have that person coach whatever players decide to stay instead of having Casey, someone the current players are familiar with, be the interim coach for this season. Really???

I bet Casey was told to just steady the ship and he will be paid handsomely until a new search is completed. Cleaning house seems a bit extreme if one person was at fault, but I guess this is very embarrassing for Nemec as the head guy raising money for the school. Schlickmann must be feeling some heat. The right next coach could bring some excitement back after the fumbled opening of the Mahoney and the disappointments in the program. Change is here…onward and upward.

This could just be the beginning. Who knows what else will be announced in the next week or coming weeks.

It would give that coach a chance to be more prepared for recruiting and settle in with whatever else on basically a freebie year.
