Now is the time to rally around this team for the players’ sake. Bring in DeSantis to help instruct at some practices..however he would be willing to help. He’s a great instructor. We can’t fret and ditch the upcoming season. Make something out of the adversity.
I was getting tired of the admin’s NEC fascination though, i,e. …coaches, scheduling, etc. We can do better.

Agree with making something out of nothing. Maybe see if DeSantis would join staff for the year. But, NEC fascination? Are you being sarcastic?

There is no level of embarrassment this administration won’t tolerate when it comes to the men’s basketball program. Why would we expect the next hire to be any better?
This isn’t just a basketball issue. Terrible optics for the university’s work to establish reputation as upper echelon school. Hope it doesn’t get traction with local and metro NY TV stations and not necessarily as sports news. Won’t go over well with parents of students and potential students.

Agreed. The public relations here baffled me. The statement that came out and said nothing, unattributable to nobody, makes me scratch my head.

Jay counted on Schlickman and Nemac to put him in a position to win - they didn’t. Next guy (what Luke supposedly wanted) needs to negotiate the infrastructure upfront- that was Jays biggest failure-naive up front.
I bet Casey was told to just steady the ship and he will be paid handsomely until a new search is completed. Cleaning house seems a bit extreme if one person was at fault, but I guess this is very embarrassing for Nemec as the head guy raising money for the school. Schlickmann must be feeling some heat. The right next coach could bring some excitement back after the fumbled opening of the Mahoney and the disappointments in the program. Change is here…onward and upward.
This could just be the beginning. Who knows what else will be announced in the next week or coming weeks.
I'd be very worried about some of the players leaving. That's what happened last season at this time when Masiello was let go at Manhattan.
After sleeping on it, I think the short term embarrassment/optics are going to pay dividends in the long run. Being free and clear of Jays contract allows us to commit (barring any legal battle) way more resources to a new coach and makes it a more desirable destination for former head coaches or up and coming assistants. I've not been enamored with Schlickman so far and the hiring of his buddy JY initially put a bad taste in my mouth out of the gate, but he potentially gets a reset here. We CANNOT fuck this up or we could be looking at a deeper rock bottom for a long time.
What's Kevin Ollie up to? He's a Nets assistant this year so is still somewhat local.

Not going to pretend to know all the details, but hope players don’t make rash decisions here. Chris Casey is an experienced assistant and former head coach. It looks like we have assembled what could be a competitive team. School is well under way. Hope Chris & players focusing on turning this around. As we all know, there is a ton of potential here and the pieces are in place (Arena, Alum backing, fan backing).
