Got a tip from amico a roma (a friend in Rome) about Emmanuel Innocenti, who just entered the portal following his freshman year at Tarleton State. Innocenti has been a well known player in Rome for a while as he joined Stella Azzurra at age 15. He's listed at 6'5, 200 and plays the 1, 2, and 3. Ended up on the All Rookie Team and the all defensive team in the WAC this past season. Innocenti was second on the team in minutes played (31.7), averaged 6.6 ppg, 6.4 rebs, (2nd on the team) 3 assists per game (led the team) shot 80 % FT, 41% from the floor and 31% from 3 playing mostly the point. Has International Basketball experience and apparently is interested in international business. Have someone from the Italian Studies program call him. Here's some video. Thoughts?

Does your amico a roma happen to know why Innocenti wants to transfer? With those numbers, I’m guessing he’s looking to move up to a high major conference. But if there’s some other motivation for transferring, I’d hope we’d be letting him know we’re interested.
The transfer portal will still be open for 26 more days for undergraduate players. A graphic representation of which conferences have had the most players enter the portal so far.
I was scrolling through Twitter and reading of various players in the transfer portal who plan on scheduling a visit to a school once the dead period ends. I did not realize that the same recruiting schedule for prep players is in place for transfers. Here’s the remaining dead periods for D1 men’s basketball for the ‘23-‘24 timeframe.
April 4-11 (noon), 2024 April 15-18, 2024 May 16-24, 2024 July 6-10, 2024 July 15-21, 2024
Interesting D2 transfer who may be on the Stags radar. Nordin Kapic is a 6'8, 245 PF who played his first 2 years at Lynn University. This past season he averaged 19.3 ppg, 9.2 rebs, 50.1% FG, 41.3 % 3Pt FG, 76% FT (138-182), 2 assists, 1 block. Has international experience as he played 2 years with the Austrian National team. Has 2 years remaining. IMO, would run a great high/low with Smith. Not a lot of individual video, but here's some game video. Kapic is #24.
Maybe a package deal with Acker? 6'10 post Nikola Djapa of LIU is in the portal, as well. Averaged 6.1 pts, 5.6 rebs. 57% FG, 59% FT. 3 years of eligibility remaining. 2 young players with significant playing time as freshman and 2 nice fits.
New Hampshire’s 5’9” guard, Ahmad Robinson, who scored the last 9 points for New Hampshire in their 83-80 win over us at Mahoney is in the portal. We and many other schools have expressed interest in him.
6'4, 205 lb guard Zion Bethea just entered the portal. Bethea played as a redshirt freshman for Glenn Braica at St Francis, averaged 10.7 pts, 3.5 rebs, and 1.4 assists in just 22 MPG. He also led the Terriers in 3 pt % at 42.2 %. Transferred to Delaware after St Francis discontinued their program and played just 3 games for the Blue Hens. Here's his transfer tape following the 22-23 season at St Francis.
One more if I may. I posted this video last season when Djorje Curcic was being recruited. He ended up at St Louis and played in just 18 games, averaging 9.8 minutes per. In limited time, Curcic shot 52.8% FG and 43% from 3. A flat out shooter with tons of International experience.

Assuming the worst and Leach, Floyd, and Goodine transfer away and with Fields out of eligibility, I would think the coaching staff’s top priority is guards with really good ball handling skills who can create their own shots if need be as well as create scoring opportunities for others. Curcic, from the video seems to have an excellent jump shot. Every team needs a player like that but we already have Curtis and Rogan (at least to this point of the portal). Hopefully, those two have notified Casey of their plans. If both are coming back, then I doubt that Curcic improved his ball handling in his one year at St. Louis to become the type of guard we desperately need and I doubt the coaching staff would initially go hard after him. However, particularly if Curtis plans on entering the portal—— I could see Casey trying to convince Curcic that he’d get a good deal of playing time at Fairfield. Casey would just have to show the change in the number of minutes another A10 guy, Bleechmore, got when he came to Fairfield.
