Win or lose I think Ed's dancing. I usually root for Creighton in March but not this year. Go "Little" Ed.
According to anyone who means anything in the business, the win last night absolutely clinched a spot. This is huge for Ed and the program because it validates what his hiring promised for the Friars, a team that would be competing for more than just NIT championships, the fate of the team the last decade or so. And quite frankly with the loss of Kris Dunn this season, not to mention a great freshman player (Austin) who was kicked off the team, this has been quite a magical season for them, as he has had to depend basically on only 6 players to carry most of the load. Of course it didn't hurt that he has Bryce Cotton on his team, one of the best players in the country for sure.
I think Providence is definitely in. Their win over St Johns in the Quarter-finals was huge and was the clincher. Plus Bryce Cotton is a star who has won many close games. Providence is not expected to beat Creighton, so a loss to them would not matter.
What a pleasure it is to watch Cooley's Friars win and go for the Big East Championship! And I look forward to their performance in the NCAA Tournament. When you watch Providence you see alot of Cooley, interviews etc. Fairfield was even mentioned once, Publicity as he plays on! My second favorite team, it's great to be still involved.
PC vs. Creighton on Fox Sports 1 at 8:30 pm tonight from the Garden.
Daniel Curry Index: Big East Conference Tournament Championship at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY Creighton 82.3 vs. Providence 76.5, 8:30 PM
"I was born and raised in Providence," Cooley said Friday night, after leading the Friars to the 2014 Big East final with an 80-74 win over Seton Hall, "and I was born to coach Providence basketball."...

I think they're in, too.
SJ was a must-win. SH probably did the trick. I don't think even a watered down BE is a 2-bid league - though it's still probably a good thing they beat Creighton in the regular season - as opposed to having swapped that with the SH loss.
Team looked dead in the water a month ago, so I'll give Cooley a lot of credit.

One more comment. Yes Ed has delivered on his promise and brought this team back to prominence. But, the Big East that Ed competed in when he got there and today's Big East are two different conferences. Timing of realignment was perfect for Ed. Still a major accomplishment.
