...He graduated earlier this month and will be eligible to play at another school immediately. Mason averaged 25.6 points last season, ranking second in the country behind Creighton's Doug McDermott...
When he picks a new school, his criteria needs to be:
- Go to a school where he will defintely start and get enough of shots - Go to a school that makes the NCAA Touney - Play in a league that is higher thatn the MAAC
Hofstra would certainly fill that bill, but I also think a team like Temple or St Joes would be a good fit. If he goes really High Major (i.e UCONN), he might not play that much

Tough call for Mason. Yes Hofstra with Joe M. would be comfortable, and indeed your lobby for the Philly schools make sense. But with his talent maybe he could thrive with a program that plays at the highest level and would get him more national recognition if (and that is a big if) he could fit in properly with the new team and accept less shots in the name of advancing the success of the squad. For example this very same situation kind of played out this past season with DeAndre Kane of Iowa St. who transferred from Marshall where he averaged somewhere in the high teens for 3 years on a mediocre mid-major team, but became perhaps the most important player on the Cyclones as they became one of the best teams in the country. Certainly this should be fun to watch to see what his decision turns out to be!
...The 6-foot-3 guard from Queens will be eligible right away and has already heard from a large group of schools. "Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, St. John's, Providence, Auburn, Wake Forest, Maryland, Missouri, Texas A&M, and a few more have all reached out so far," said Mason to 247Sports Thursday afternoon...

It was just announced within the past 24 hours that Josh Fortune is transferring from Providence. A shooting guard who figured to get a lot of minutes for the Friars leaving? Maybe this is where Mason will end up.
Niagara has granted Mason a permission to contact letter, meaning he can speak to any school and any school can recruit him. It, however, is unclear if Niagara plans to block him from attending any school, particularly other MAAC programs....
I'm guessing that at this point he doesn't want to play in the MAAC any longer.
... Anthony Mason’s phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since the news broke, coaches from the Big East, Pac-12, SEC, ACC and Big Ten all looking to get involved, though he declined to list specific schools...
Funny how Mason is not mentioning specific schools in the Friday article in the NYPost when he mentioned 10 schools specifically in the Thursday interview with 247 Sports.

BC,PC,and Auburn mentioned in this May 30 Rothstein article: • Providence, Boston College and Auburn are in the mix for Niagara transfer Antoine Mason, sources said. The 6-3 guard averaged 25.6 points last season and will be immediately eligible to play in 2014-15 after graduating.
Congrats to Mason. Being a High Scorer and having a High Profile father, certainly makes him an attractive player. As far as his skills and athleticism, I feel he is overrated. Still good, but not as good as his former teammate Juanya Green, who transferred to Hofstra last year. It will be interesting to see to who made the right choice between the 2.

Well Green will obviously do well playing for his former coach. As far as Mason is concerned, I wish he had gone to Providence. However going to Auburn will enable him to flourish for many reasons, not the least of which is that his new coach will be Bruce Pearl (back in the game after a forced sabbatical), a mentor who has always been known for getting the maximum production out of his players because he plays a wide open style that encourages scoring a lot of points, a lot of it being based on a constant amount of defensive pressure that forces a very quick game. Not saying he will average quite what he did at Niagara, but I am saying he will probably get at least 20PPG. And in the high profile SEC that should certainly be enough for him to get a lot of attention on a national scale.
Nashville --- if Mason gets at least 20 ppg next season at Auburn (...but I am saying he will probably get at least 20PPG...), then he'll be averaging more than the leading scorer did in the '13-'14 season in the SEC.
