The stags could step up their defense during the remaining two regular season games and the MAAC tourney and still easily lose all three games because of their inept offense. I was aware JY had a reputation of being a defensive coach but I never expected this team to be so bad offensively. Perhaps the school needs to engage an offensive tutor for JY (ala Syd Johnson) or Jay needs to find an assistant coach with a rep for being offensive minded.

There's a reason the MAAC coaches picked us to come in last in the pre-season poll: we don't have a lot of talent on the roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
I think we need to have a wait & see attitude before we start calling for an offensive coach. Tough to judge JY on his offense until he gets more talented players that he recruited. There are a lot of open shots including 2 ft bunnies that these guys miss. In my opinion it’s a talent issue not and offense issue. The things I’ve enjoyed with this group is how hard they play defense & rebound. This team also never gives up. Imagine what this team would look like if they were middle of the pack in defense efficiency & averaging 56 point a game? We would still be looking forward to our first win in the MAAC!

I agree the missed lay-ups are hard to pin on the coach. But we have some guys that were high percentage shooters last year that don't get open this year. Some of that has to be related to what we are doing offensively.

I think the loss of Alvarez is part of the equation. Seeing what I've seen now - if he had stuck around - I bet the Stags are kicking around .500.
I think JY is bringing in at least 3 new players for 2020-2021 to go with the 4... so we should get a better feel for how he sees things fitting together.
We are bringing in one new guard (Green). But we should be able to bring in more transfers at the guard position that Are immediately available Because of the new transfer rules

Agree that things would have been better if Alvarez was still around. He should become a star at Mercer starting next season. OTOH I believe Caleb Green might become everything Neftali was and more for the next two years. Similar games, but I think Caleb will be better at protecting the ball. Anyway, got to look forward and not back.

One interesting aside to the offense talk: St. Peter's, in 2nd place, does not have a player among the top 37 scorers in the league. Their leading scorers, Ndefo and Estrada, are each averaging 8.2 ppg, and are T38 in the league in scoring. That blows my mind.
I think Green will be a welcoming addition. I think there may be a lot of changes in the off-season. We will see who may decide to transfer out. This team could look remarkably different next year!

Going: Aidas, Landon, Eze (probably)
Transfers?: KSP, Omar, Whipple
I see at least 3 going and up to 6 (probably closer to 4).
We only have 1 coming in with Jason. As you mention it could be very different.

Well I don't like to speculate much on transfers out during the season. And while the above names might seem logical to the casual observer, I suspect, given what I know, that we will have 6 scholarships to use, but I believe the 6 will likely not be an exact match to the names mentioned above.
Stag 74, you can't create a filet mignon out of Hamburg. 11 wins is more than I expected this year. I am not happy with some of personnel being put on the floor, but this year is the honeymoon year for Jay. Next year will bring more pressure to improve significantly.

Agreed we will see. Just like we can't say Peter Kiss is leaving Rutgers to join Jay Young. Who knows but could be nice...
