BC now in the running for Purdue grad transfer Matt Haarms (along with 8-9 other schools) per Jon Rothstein. What is the attraction to the Heights all of a sudden?
If someone wants to have a meaningful and memorable last season of college ball, you think they would opt for a school/program like Fairfield.
I can't tell whether you're completely serious with this post or being humorous. In case your post was serious, I'd say the attraction to BC is one gets to play against some of the one and dones that seem to gravitate to some of the top tier schools in the ACC, among other conferences. BC is also a quality academic institution. As others have pointed out, there's been a shortage of top talent on the BC roster in recent years, so the transfer is probably thinking he has a decent opportunity to get significant playing time there.
My guess is Haarms felt like Purdue's style of play under coach Painter wasn't allowing him enough opportunity to impress the NBA scouts and he's looking for a team that plays in a top tier conference where their offense will have the freedom for him to demonstrate some skills that he's hoping will impress the NBA scouts enough to improve where he gets drafted (or if he gets drafted at all). Use the link to read a scout's evaluation of Haarms.
Scroll down to section VII. Overall Outlook where it states Haarms might be a late second round pick if he improves in three areas -- one of which is three point percentage. Keep in mind that only first round picks get guaranteed money.
Jesuit BC is ranked #37 Nationally by US News & World Reports. The Eagles have appeared in 18 NCAA Tournaments (22-19) in their history, most recently in 2009, including 9 Sweet Sixteens and 3 Elite Eights. Also in 16 NITs (17-12). Home games are played at their 8,600 seat on campus Conte Forum since 1988 and averaged 6,248 fans last season. They play an ACC schedule and had 5 games nationally on ESPNU and ESPN2.
That's great but Purdue is ranked #57 nationally in UNWR, has appeared in 31 NCAA tournaments (42-31), the NIT eight times (20-7). Home games are in Mackey Arena (14,484) where they sell out virtually every game. They play a Big 10 schedule, which is a higher rated conference than the ACC (Big 10 was #1 and the ACC was #4 this past season).
Haarms to BC (or anywhere else) seems like an odd transfer.

According to a Rothstein tweet from this morning, these are the schools Haarms is considering transferring to:
Arizona Arkansas Boston College BYU Gonzaga Kentucky Memphis Minnesota Texas Tech UNCG
To me, the surprising schools on the list are UNCG and BYU(unless Haarms is a Mormon).
Haarms only started in 15 of 29 games for Purdue last season and averaged under 9 ppg. Those are probably some of the reasons he's looking to transfer.

It does, sure, but then again how often in the past have we witnessed what seems like to an outsider a move which doesn't make sense? Maybe other reasons beside hoops that come into play which none of us know about. And in this case, yes it's a step down in programs. Not really so in leagues however. Sure the B-10 was better this past season, but that changes from year to year and the ACC doesn't take a back seat to anyone when it comes to overall relevance. I know one thing and that is that BC could really benefit from Haarms showing up there. His skill-set and length for a big man are something the Eagles have been severely lacking for quite some time. Maybe they are about to improve quite a bit in the near future. Maybe even get back a little closer to the status they used to have when Cooley was an assistant to Al Skinner in the early part of the century.

Down to 3 (and it won't be BC). Kentucky, Texas Tech and BYU. And no I'm not surprised BYU is still in the running. That program has become pretty solid since moving over to the West Coast Conference with the shot to play Gonzaga at least twice a year. But my guess is, especially if he wants to help his professional stock, Kentucky and Calipari become his destination. Well it's not Kentucky and coach Cal because it's BYU! The Cougars have been either 2nd or 3rd best along with St' Mary's in the West Coast Conference in recent years (to Gonzaga of course), therefore he will be moving into a league that gets plenty of publicity even if that league is not as good as the Big-10. I think he will be a force for BYU.

Tykei Greene from Manhattan is transferring to Stony Brook. Would have been the leading returning scorer for the Jaspers as a junior. A big loss for them I think.
