. BTW for those that are interested, as far as I know both Matty and Donovan are scheduled to be playing in the JCC Classic All-Star game against New Jersey on (I believe) Sunday, April 10th at the Shehan Center in Bridgeport. I will post further details as soon as that information is confirmed.
Nash, the game is indeed on the 10th vs New Jersey, but the venue has been changed to St Joseph HS (in hopeful anticipation of a larger crowd).

Actually I can confirm what you have just said as (ironically) I was just informed of this very same thing less than 10 minutes ago. I would imagine a capacity or near capacity crowd once the word gets around that Clingan will be playing.

What’s the seating capacity at St. Joseph HS?
Strictly a guess. Probably around 1,000 or so. Typical high school gym in these parts.
If those listed do in fact show up, Curtis and Cligan are slotted to be on the same team in the Connecticut public school all star game next Wednesday in Clinton.
The 45th CHSCA Boys Basketball All-Star Festival will be held March 30 at The Morgan School in Clinton. Teams made up of players from Divisions III, IV and V schools will face off at 5:45 pm. The second game, featuring players from Divisions I & II schools will tip at approximately 7:15. Admission to the doubleheader is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
Team Mohegan (Divisions I and II), coached by Jared Leghorn (Conard) and Jason Shea (Notre Dame-West Haven): Nick Duncan, Farmington; Aden Goffe, Amistad; Jalen Hamblin, Conard; Jayquan Kirkland, Stratford; Andrew Lazarre, Notre Dame-West Haven; Max Manjos, Fairfield Prep; Ese Onakpoma, Naugatuck; Jonathan Rivera, Crosby; Ashton Sannasi, Holy Cross; Elijah Wilborn, Middletown.
Team Pequot (Divisions I and II), coached by John Dailey (Fairfield Ludlowe) and Joel Geriak (Wilton): Donovan Clingan, Bristol Central; Matty Curtis, NorthwestCatholic; Cooper Dailey, Fairfield Ludlowe; Justyn Davis, Fairfield Warde; Kevin Hyzy, Wilton; Matt Knachel, Ridgefield; Sean O’Connell, Waterford; Favour Okeke, East Hartford; James Pilc, Greenwich; JeySon Slade, Westhill.

I'm not suggesting it wouldn't be great to see Curtis (and Clingan) in this event if indeed they do show up, but the thing I am suggesting is that if history means anything, the CHSCA game (games) are usually kind of a joke with no real team action or intensity apparent. No one really cares who wins and that usually means lots of individual play and hogging the ball. OTOH, again based on past history, the JCC Classic has in almost all cases become a contest that both the Connecticut and NJ teams want to win and therefore is played out accordingly by the players. I have been able to watch Conn. practice some years, and with the urging of the coaches who want to win the game for state pride, these guys really work the kids almost like it was their own teams they were handling. The record of the two entities is almost exactly even after more than 50 years of this event and that is certainly on the mind of all the people involved in putting this together. So if one had to choose which game to go to, the JCC Classic would certainly be my recommendation. BTW there will also be a girls All-Star contest with Conn. only players at the JCC which I think is starting at 1PM at St. Joseph's H.S. April 10th.

wtnh segment promoting Sunday’s game in which Matt Curtis will be playing. I found it interesting in the Open Court podcast that Curtis’ name wasn’t mentioned at all which makes me think he’ll be doing a postgrad year at STM.

What scares me about that is time changes circumstances and attitudes. That's why I can't get excited about anybody until till the first official practice.

Well first of all until a kid actually signs the letter of intent to come to a school, technically a coach is not allowed to talk about that kid in a way which suggests he is already a member of the team. And since Curtis has not yet signed the letter, Jay is just following the (somewhat shaky) rules by not saying anything even if the plan is for him to be here next season. But that said and in kind of trying to understand the tea leaves from what I have been reading, I would be surprised if Matty is indeed a member of the Stags next year. I think in looking at some of the news coming out of the transfer portal and also this interview is that Jay and his staff are certainly on board with trying to improve the team through recruitment of experienced and skilled guards who are ready to come in and make an impact right away. Look if you have been reading my comments about Matt Curtis this past year and even before the time when he (verbally) committed to Fairfield, you know I have consistently stated that he is an outstanding high school player with the potential to do good things in the future when he gets to college. But for next year at least and with the thought we all have that WE NEED TO WIN NOW, expecting him to come to campus next season and be an immediate difference-maker is kind of naive. Even Tyler Nelson wasn't a star his first season here as Fairfield won a grand total of 7 games. So with the risk that will always be there of Matty somehow not showing up on campus for the 2023-24 season, the fact is if he gets better as a player at St. Thomas More (which he will do), when he becomes a Stag in a couple of years he should be ready to be the important player that his talent suggests he could be. Anyway again, my guess is we are going to have to have patience with this because I think the move will indeed be put off for a year.

I wouldn't put too much faith in this. Several factual errors. he probably saw "Fairfield" in the program.
Yeah I think you're right. Matty will most likely be going to STM for a year before he becomes a Stag. And if that is indeed the way it plays out, as far as I know he cannot sign the LOI form during the spring period which I believe begins this week and lasts for a month or so. Have to wait until the fall signing period in November I think. But I certainly believe he is looking forward to coming to Fairfield in the future based on what I know.

From the Rutgers board by a guy who went to the game...
NewJerseyHawk Matty Curtis (Fairfield, Jay Young has a solid development piece, knows how to play and get to his space to shoot). Not a superb handle as a SG, but good enough. If he had another step quicker, he would be a higher level kid (6'3").....if you give him space, he will knock down 3s.
