Premier Lacrosse League Powered by Ticketmaster Announces Rafferty Stadium at Fairfield University as Host for Week 7 Games
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster announced today that the league will travel to Connecticut for the first-time ever. Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium at Fairfield University will host four games from July 23rd to July 24th.
"There's a rich history of lacrosse in the state of Connecticut – home to nearly a dozen of our pros," said Co-Founder and CEO Michael Rabil. "We're thrilled to host games at Fairfield's Rafferty Stadium. Lastly, Connecticut needs more professional sports teams, so we wanted to give the lacrosse loving community a chance to see the PLL stars up close."
Saturday will feature a double-header with games at 5:00PM ET and 7:45PM ET. The weekend will wrap up with a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. The first faceoff will be at 2:00PM ET, followed by a 4:30PM matchup.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Premier Lacrosse League to the Fairfield University campus this summer," said Director of Athletics Paul Schlickmann. "The PLL will bring national exposure to our institution and showcase Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium as an exceptional venue for the sport of lacrosse."
Eight Premier Lacrosse League players hail from Connecticut: Archers LC midfielder Austin Sims (Fairfield); Atlas LC midfielders Brent Adams (Norwalk) and Peter Dearth (Ridgefield); Chaos LC long-stick midfielder CJ Costabile (New Fairfield); Waterdogs LC attackman Michael Kraus (New Canaan) and midfielder Connor Kelly (Easton); and Whipsnakes LC attackman Simon Mathias (Ridgefield) and midfielder Will Perry (Greenwich).In addition, former Fairfield head coach Andy Copelan is the leader of the league’s Waterdogs LC with former Stag Matt Bocklet on his coaching staff.

Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is an American professional field lacrosse league. The league's inaugural season debuted on June 1, 2019, and included a 14-week tour-based schedule taking place in 12 major-market cities. The PLL features eight teams, each with a 26-player roster. As opposed to tying teams to a specific market, the league tours 12 different "major market cities". The season includes 14 weeks, comprising 10 regular-season weekends, 1 all-star weekend, and 3 playoff weekends, running from June 1 through September 21, assuring there is no overlap with the NCAA Lacrosse or National Lacrosse League seasons. On December 16, 2020 it was announced that the PLL and MLL had merged under the banner of the PLL. The PLL would add the Boston Cannons for the 2021 season, rebranded as the Cannons Lacrosse Club, to bring the total PLL teams to eight.

Opened in February of 2015 and dedicated on March 21, 2015, Rafferty Stadium is a 3,500-seat venue located on the Fairfield University campus. The facility features a Daktronics HD video board, state-of-the-art sound and lights and a FieldTurf playing surface, all made possible through the generosity of Fairfield alumni, parents and friends. The stadium is named in recognition of the principal leadership gift from Larry Rafferty '64 and his family, and the field itself is named Conway Field in acknowledgment of a gift from Tim Conway '76 and his family. Rafferty Stadium also includes a terrace level with a fully-enclosed press box that features a large media suite, two VIP suites and a production suite to support the video capabilities of the scoreboard, television broadcasts and web streaming. Action from Rafferty Stadium has been televised live on SportsNet New York (SNY), the American Sports Network and CBS Sports Network in addition to online broadcasts via the Stags Sports Network, Facebook Live, Lax Sports Network and the ESPN family of networks.
