Fairfield Frank is pointing to Tyler Betsey, the 6-8 recruit from Windsor. Betsey's final seven schools feature Duke, UConn, Alabama, Cincinnati, Indiana, Creighton and Villanova. Fairfield did offer him back in 2022, but his recruiting blew up soon after. If he chose Fairfield now, it would truly be a miracle. Betsey plans to announce his decision on Oct. 6.
My money's on Guillouette.
Mine too actually if it's one or the other. But we could only hope with Betsey who currently is ranked NUMERO UNO on the most up to date list of NERR New England players. I personally watched him have a great game a couple of years ago playing against Bristol Central and Donovan Clingan and have been mentioning his name quite a bit since (HS News and Views). It truly would be a miracle if he could ever become a Stag. If it happened we could recapture the sentiment of the old Al Michael's line "do you believe in miracles, YES!" Now THAT would be exciting to think about, right?

This appears to be a “ good get” by Jay Young and company. I like meaty big men . This player at 6’-8 and 255lbs is just that kind of recruit . In Jay Young’s MTM defense system he will not be pushed around when defending down low.Good job, keep them coming!

The Betsey rumor to Fairfield had to be a pipe-dream all along (as you and I speculated). That said, this kid from South Jersey who will be a Stag looks to be an exciting pick-up for the team. Other good programs involved with him should indicate something about his abilities. And as well as the fact that he looks to be not only tall but also strong, he appears to be good in all areas of post type play based on his statistics. Can score the ball a bit for sure, but the rebounding, blocks and passing numbers suggest he is a well-rounded big man. Got to give coach Johns a lot of credit for this commitment I think.

Well good luck to Betsey (even as predicted he wouldn't be a Stag). Certainly he qualifies as another high-level talent who at one time has performed in the state's strongest league, the Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) over the past few years. And in that regard even if most of these guys were always going to be recruited by bigger programs, actually getting involved with some of these players has shown that maybe for the first time in a long while Fairfield is putting their hat in the ring in the hope of strengthening the program with strong help from the local angle. Matty Curtis BTW qualifies as one of these players, so depending on how it works out with him maybe this is starting to pay off already. Indeed if he does well maybe there will be more good ones to follow in the near future.

I think Coach Young is following a strategy that is similar to his former mentor (Pikiell) at Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights struggled when they switched conferences, but then started to get some better recruits and began to move up the ranks of the Big Ten. They now have a very good recruiting class for 2023 (incuding a top player from CT) and their 2024 class might end up being the best in the country (they have a commitment from the #3 player in the country and are waiting anxiously to hear from the #2 player).
There are still a lot of question marks for the Stags, but here's hoping this year begins the upward trend for the program. The season is only a month away.

Yeah let's hope the trend happens on a similar path as to the one that Rutgers took as far as improvement is concerned (at a different level of competition obviously). BTW the player from Connecticut you referred to is Gavin Griffiths, a 6-7 forward who can shoot the lights out and who dominated the JCC Classic All-Star basketball game this past March in Bridgeport. Unlike the players I was referring to above however, I don't believe Gavin ever played under the banner of a CIAC school. Came directly to the prep ranks if I am not mistaken.
Another class of ‘24 player who has offers from us and Penn as Tyler Boston had. Tweet(X) indicates he has received interest from Holy Cross. Not sure why Yale isn’t listed as a school having interest in him as he’s shown in a Yale uniform.
Here’s a photo of Bradyn Foster. He’s from Natrona Heights, PA; about 25 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
