PG Deuce Jones on his official visit with us this weekend. He’s from Trenton NJ and attends College Achieve Public Charter School.
Very impressive resume that I just looked up. Listed as a 3 star on one site. And he looked great on the video that was available (even though video can at times be misleading as we know). Anyway at first glance this kid looks like someone who could really help the Stags as a lead guard in the future. So hopefully our newly formed staff will impress him during his visit this weekend.
The 2024 recruits have all season to observe the team and decide if they still want to come to Fairfield. I'm sure Johns has or will be contacting them to reassure them that they are still wanted and the coaching change will not adversely affect them. If by January or February, it appears that Fairfield is not getting better or is regressing then they can reopen their recruitment with plenty of time to find a good option. It will be important for Casey and the rest of the staff to stabilize the team, give the players confidence and trust in the system, and show some improvement over last year. I think he and Braica as former head coaches are able to do that. I also believe that Taj brings an ability to relate to the players on a different level than the older coaches which will go a long way towards bringing the best out of the kids. I am always optimistic about the season and don't give up until we are eliminated in Atlantic City. This year is no exception and I think we'll have a respectable season with a chance to make a run if we are at full strength when the tournament starts.
Some photos of Que Duncan. According to verbalcommits, five other schools besides us have offered him. (FIU, FGCU, St. Bonaventure, GeorgeMason, and Indiana State).
12 other schools besides us have offered guard Moses Hipps, according to verbalcommits. The number of offers he has plus this move to Arizona makes me think the chances of him becoming a Stag are rather slim.

I wouldn't give up just for the reason that he now will be playing in Arizona. Like many of the New England prep schools, Compass Prep is well known for its hoops program that competes on a national level in order to help kids get better recognition and hence college scholarship offers. That said, the number of other schools interested in him might be the biggest reason why he might never come here.

If verbalcommits is 100% accurate, then this means Deuce has eliminated Delaware, Milwaukee, and Robert Morris from consideration.
Interesting theory by Joe Budzelek in the tweet below. Would explain how earlier this year Ryan Williams committed to Northeastern when his final 3 were Iona, Columbia, and Fairfield. Deuce Jones has said he’ll announce his college decision on Saturday.
I would be shocked if Jones announces for Fairfield. I just don’t see how FF can recruit any quality players with the turmoil going on with the coaching staff because of the Costa Rica incident. A real mess that will impact FF mens hoop for some time.
