Great to see this offer from the Stags. Tyler Betsey just completed his sophomore year with Windsor, and quite frankly if he returned to the Warriors and Ken Smith, he very might well have been the best returning player in the CIAC even though he wouldn't have been a senior. Instead as I just recently learned, Betsey will be transferring to St. Thomas More for his 2022-23 season, ironically the school that Matty Curtis was supposed to attend but now has announced he will be playing at Avon Old Farms instead. Anyway back to Betsey, as you can see from other listed offers, competition will be fierce for his services. But like with the offer to Fox, identifying and at the very least getting involved with these type of kids early could suggest some benefit down the line, even if in many cases disappointment is sure to follow when bigger programs get involved. But unlike previous years with other coaches where there was no effort to cultivate state talent, things appear to be changing for the better in that regard, and IMO that's a good thing.
Add two more to the list. This time a couple of big men from the DC area.
6/23/2022 - 2024 SF Emanuel Okitondo (6-8, -, 2★), Archbiship Carroll HS in DC 6/23/2022 - 2024 PF Garrett Sundra (6-10, -, 2★), Paul VI HS in northern Virginia
Is there a fixed number 2 star, 3 star, 4 star recruits, and 5 star recruits? I would guess there is a very small number of 5 star recruits (maybe 25? 50?) and larger number of 2 star recruits (maybe 500? 1,000?)

You have ratings from different places - but I think the general answer to your question is YES.
For example - with James Johns Jr. we've heard he was a 4-star and I think he was at one point when he was rated a top-100 player in his class. For whatever reason, I saw he had dropped back a little to a top-125, so that pushed his rating back to a (high) 3-star. Maybe 5-stars are top-20 recruits? 3-stars are maybe top-250?

I would guess that JJJr dropped a bit because of his reclassification to 2022 - he would have been a bit more physically mature for the class of 2023

I think that's a great point about JJJ. Yes he indeed may be a little underrated star-wise as he starts his college career a year earlier than almost everyone else. And maybe that might mean he won't be ready for immediate stardom for that reason. But as he physically matures and gets some experience playing against older players, hopefully that will mean we have a real difference-maker on our squad. As far as the star rating system in general, I'm not sure of the exact cutoff but I think it goes something like this: 1-25 a 5, 26-100 (maybe even a little higher) a 4, 101-300 (or more) a 3, and then almost everyone else worth recruiting a 2. A large majority of MAAC type players are 2, but with the new reliance on the transfer portal quite a few of the teams will have higher than 2s on their roster.

From the video and information below, I’m pretty sure Betsey is going to end up at a level above the MAAC.
