When does Casey get the head coach job. Give it to him now and get on with recruiting. These guys live playing for him.
Fascinating decision for Schlickmann considering we gave early contract extensions to SJ and JY that put us in a bind as the results and style of play under those two coaches didn’t live up to what was expected when the extensions were announced. My guess is if the style of play and wins continue for around the next 5 to 6 MAAC games, the interim tag will be removed in order to help recruiting efforts and to reward Casey for what he has done with this team.

I hope that happens but not sure it will. But I also don't think he needs to win the MAAC to get the job. Like all these guys, Casey knows his Xs and Os at an insane level. But his maturity and people skills have been on display here. And that’s stood out the most. We’re going to have a good conference season. I hope he gets the position.
"You can't ask for a much better start than what we had in the first half – not just shooting but our defense and rebounding as well," said Interim Head Coach Chris Casey. "With a team that can score like FDU, you know they might find their offensive rhythm like they did, but I thought we did a good job of keeping our composure and getting back to controlling the flow of the game to close out the win."
After a break for the holidays, the Stags (6-6)(1-1 MAAC) return to action to close out the non-conference slate at Mahoney Arena against visiting NEC Le Moyne (5-8)(0-0) on Dec. 30. Opening tip-off in the first meeting between the Stags and Dolphins since 1955 is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+. Tickets are on sale now at FairfieldStags.com/TIX.
The thing to do now is to take one game at a time and hope the stags continue to play well and be injury free for the remainder of the season. It’s great to win but things can change just as quickly. Let’s not forget where we were 2-3 weeks ago! Stags up!

Let's not be hasty, still a lot of basketball to be played but Coach Casey is certainly trending up. This game is probably 75% recruiting and 25% coaching. We have had good talent the past couple of years but Jay Young's stubbornness to adapt and cold demeanor held the team back IMO. Let's not rush into a new contract because we strung together a couple of wins.

Agree 100%, hopefully the upward trend continues and Casey EARNS the title of head coach. Can’t argue that the team seems to like playing under Casey. However, FF has made some dumb contract decisions like extending SJ contract only to fire him the next year and be stuck with his $500k per year salary for at least one more year after he left.
I was asked a question last night that I don't know the answer to. When was the last time we had a 30 point halftime lead on a D1 opponent. Maybe someone on the EEGN staff or another poster has the answer to that question.
For some reason the only way I could see the stream on NEC Front Row was to hit the icon to reduce screen size. It’s small but you can see the live action for those of you who don’t have YES.
Watched the game and the replay on NEC Front row and it worked perfectly. Did you try an alternate browser?
I'm starting to believe in this team. With Yetna we could be a powerhouse. With Seck we can compete for the MAAC title. Seck showed some skill in driving to the hoop. Leach looks skilled and smooth. We can score. Hopefully we can do some damage against other MAAC teams. I'm psyched!

I think the points made by Casey concerning the defense and rebounding as equal in importance to the shooting were spot on and probably suggests that taking care of both ends of the court are very much a priority every day in practice. Indeed FDU is talented offensively, their scoring stats prove that. So to hold them to only 26 points, about 15 below their prorated average over the course of a given contest, was certainly something the team should take pride in. But one other thing which Chris didn't mention but I think he might agree with is the fact that the Stags both in half #1 and also the entire game were magnificent in how they handled the trapping full court pressure that the Knights employed. Indeed the mature way they spaced their players into proper positions to open up passing alleys thereby leading to layups or easy shots near the hoop was a key factor in running up the score and also had the additional benefit of helping to get to that high assist number of 20 for the game. I think we've all been saying recently how special it is to have good guards such as we do with Jasper, Caleb, Jalen and Brycen. Then you add in the fact that almost to a man our other players are more than respectable in handling and passing within the team framework, what that means is that the Stags are a hard team to press because they turn what could be a negative into a positive against an opponent who gets too aggressive against them. Anyway this was a great night to be a Stag fan down at FDU. It seemed like our contingent was just as loud as the home fans, obviously spurred on by how the contest was playing itself out.
