Hass plays some 2 as well. Bisons also have a potential frosh star in the making who is being brought along slowly. Name is J.C. Show, the 2014 PA Gatorade Player of the Year. He is their Tyler Nelson. Hopefully, he will wait til January to break out. Bison's only win to date was over Marist.
BTW, anyone notice that Justin Jenkins went off for 18 points for Adelphi against Southern CT State the other day?
pecora, is on the "hot seat". He has to produce, or "see ya". If you remember the Fordham administration made a big deal in the NYC media on how they were going to step up funding and resources for the hoop program in order to make it competitive in the difficult A-10. So assuming they provided the resources as indicated they are looking for a return on investment. Losing to UMASS Lowell is a negative interest rate.
A-10 Fordham's (1-3) home opener against NYIT (ECC Division II) only drew 1,368 fans to their 3,200 seat Rose Hill Gym and the UMass-Lowell (AE) game had even less with only 1,122 fans. Granted these schools are not A-10 names and it is early in the season but their fans, students and Ram alumni so far are not going to the games and not happy. Single game tickets at RHG range from $10-$25 depending on the OOC or A-10 teams.
I just dont know why the A-10 continues to let Fordham function like this in that league. They have been a dormat for more than a decade. They will claim NYC market is too good to give up, but the truth is if you are not Mets, Jets, Rangers, Knicks, Yankees, Giants, Nets, Devils, or Islanders, no one in NYC cares.
How did the MAAC schools do with attendance at their home openers? Manhattan hasn't played at home yet.
MAAC Home Openers: Canisius vs. Vermont - 1,340/2,176 (62%) Fairfield vs. Wofford - 1,733/5,298 (33%) Iona vs. Cleveland State -2,008/2,611 (77%) Marist vs. Army - 2,124/3,200 (66%) Monmouth vs. Bethune-Cookman - 1,428/4,100 (35%) Niagara vs. Hartford - 1,417/2,400 (59%) Quinnipiac vs. Yale (CT6) - 3,007/3,570 (84%) Quinnipiac vs. LaSalle - 1,362/3,570 (38%) Rider vs. Lehigh - 1,650/1,650 (100%) Sellout Siena vs. Vermont - 5,964/8,444 (71%) St. Peter's vs. Niagara - 482/3,200 (15%)
Quinnipiac lost to Hartford 54-50 in Hamden on Tuesday night. Hartford is 4-1 so far this year with close wins at Niagara and a home victory over St. Peter's. Hartford's only loss this season was an 18 point loss to Sacred Heart in their opener in the CT-6 (71-53).
Iona beats down on Delaware State 126-76 at Hynes. 40 pts Casimir, 25 pts of Isaiah Williams, 26 for AJ English. 24-39 from three and 20-22 from FT. Scored 70 pts in the 2nd half! Talk about a stat line. Iona is scary good this year when they are firing on all cylinders. Still dont play a lick of defense but if you outscore everyone by 30 it doesnt matter.

Horrible game. The Q. rebounded like normal, but the rest of their game was horrendous. Totally different looking team than two weeks ago against Yale. Shows you that all nights are different. When we play them, which team will show up?

Casimir, FORTY. 11-13 from 3. Wow! Kid has always had the talent. Sometimes consistency can be a problem however.
YTD record of opponents the stags beat: 1-10, CCSU 0-5, So. Dakota U. 1-5.
And the YTD record of opponents that beat us is 14-3. So what that tells me is that our OOC a record is a function of our opponents strength..... Just as much as how well we play. And it is no surprise that we play better against weaker teams, and we struggle more against good teams.
Northeastern is another good team at 4-1, and I would consider them at an Iona level. But Monday's game vs Bucknell (2-5 )is a game that I would consider to be like a Mid-MAAC team (I.e. Manhattan, Rider, Siena .....). It will be a good barometer game. While our OOC a schedule is difficult, I feel we play a lot of games that we could win. And it is really good experience for when we beat Iona for the MAAC a championship.
