Fairfield wouldn't be deterred though as assistant coach Tyson Wheeler has pursued Cobb hard for the last eight months and that patience paid off on Sunday as they land a high level talent capable of making an immediate impact in the MAAC.....
Think this merits its own threat. A stud shooting guard. A tremendous get. Love to see a 5th year PG and Rome can take over as a junior and as sobro said, a big.
I agree.....would love to get a PG, and perferably a 5th year senior that can be the Captain, Leader and add to experience. Rome could compete with him and push him. As far as a Big Man. I think we need 2..... A top HS player, and a Transfer/JUCO that can play right now. Shot blocking and 250+ lbs would be needed..... preferable in the same player. But if it comes in 2 players..... one needs to have the Big But.
Marcus should start bulking up as he could see more time at PF.

Wow, tremendous news here! A ranking that high in NE, his recruitment by an assortment of high profile programs, and the fact that he has played with Tyler, by combining all these factors certainly suggest this kid might be the type of player who could definitely be a difference maker. And right off the bat I believe his scoring ability will really help both Tyler and Marcus by freeing them up for easier shots because of the threat he will present to the opponents. BTW I see that his home town is Fall River. That area has produced a lot of good talent over the years, especially from the local high school. Known for producing players with extra toughness as part of their nature. So I'm certainly looking forward to seeing C. Cobb in a Stag uniform!

Well stated by both of you concerning needs. But what a difference a day makes, right? Now the thought process of (say) a 5th year PG and (say) a shot blocking-big butted center-PF type might certainly be that their acceptance of a scholarship to Fairfield might be very beneficial to them because they would be coming to a program that is ready to do some great things. In basketball one or two great players can make a BIG difference. So I would like to think that this commitment will be looked back upon in a couple of years as the spark that ignited the Stags back to relevance on the basketball court.

Well as disappointed as I was that they let Martin go I have to say thank god they kept Tyson. He is relatively young in the business, but I believe he is well-connected in NE basketball circles, certainly something this commitment seems to indicate. BTW I want to wish not only Martin, but also Tony Newsome good luck in their efforts to hook up with another program.
This is a huge get that had his own thread on the Uconn board. For all the Uconn haters, many positive comments and nice comments from uconn posters happy to see SJ and Fairfield land a big time recruit. I believe he can recruit, but he better hire somebody who can take care of the X and O's.

I have been praising coach Wheeler for a long time here on this board, and there have been many questions as to what he brought to the program. Congratulations to Coach Wheeler and landing this recruit, looks like a step in the right direction. Give Tyson the Head Coaching Job.
